How hard is it to add a 5th person to ADR for 4 people.

We have some reservations that were tough to get for 4 people (6pm ADR in Easter Sunday for 4 people for example) and I'm terrified to touch it and try to add someone in case I lose it

Will I have any issues? 5th person is still undecided since they aren't sure they can get the time off.

I would think your going from a table of 4 to a table of 6 - unless they sit at front of table in aisle which for reasons a restaurant may not want to do. Plus fire code will only allow max occupancy and many restaurants esp popular ones will easily reach capacity

Going from four to five means going from a four-top table to a six-top table. Some restaurants may be able to accommodate your request, but most of the popular ones likely won't. You should keep searching for ADRs for five. More will open up in the days leading up to the meals because people will cancel to avoid the no-show fees.

On Easter Sunday and the days immediately before and after restaurants will be fully booked so finding a new reservation for 5 will be challenging. You need to check online frequently to see if a reservation for 5 (or 6) shows up. People cancel when their plans change because they do not want to pay the $10 per person no show penalty so reservations will show up.

A party of 5 needs a 6 top table, but if you find a reservation for 6 take it because as long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged for the "missing" person. You could also look for a table for 2 at the same time as your current reservation and request to be seated together when you check in. The castmembers will do their best, but there is no guarantee, particularly during a holiday period so you might be seated at two tables either near each other or on opposite sides of the room.

Showing up with an extra person would be the last resort because the restaurant could turn away the extra person, especially if the venue is fully booked and/or running behind schedule. We have seen this happen.
