Adding extra guests in the cabins?

We are a family of 4 going to Disney. We currently have pirate rooms booked at CBR. My parents have hit some financial trouble and are slated to come with us. So, I'm considering switching to one of the cabins and paying for the room. The problem I'm having is that I don't want to buy them the dining plan and park tickets. I called Disney, and they basically said too bad, it's all or nothing.

So, if I book a cabin that sleeps 6, couldn't I add additional people for the room only portion? It seems so silly that I couldn't since there's room in the cabin for them!

You are right , it is silly,,but Disney will not allow you to book guests only in the cabins either. At the cabins, all guest will have to have th same package, all or nothing.

I personally have always thought this is wrong, but Disney is sure to get the biggest $$ that way.

Gee....could I rent them a campsite...and just let them sleep in my cabin?

Hmm.... that's an interesting idea. Can't see why it wouldn't work unless Disney actually goes around checking to see if someone's in the site, and I'm not sure they'd even care as long as someone is paying for it. And it would still give your parents KTTW cards. :scratchin

Does anyone think someone (Mousekeeping?) might rat them out or that they could get into trouble doing this?

You probably could do that. Whether or not you should do it is another question entirely.

Having said that, I think the all or nothing thing with the reservations is a bad policy as well as the necessity to have park tickets to stay at the cabins. What is grandma and grandpa didn't want to do the parks but want to enjoy the family time?

Have you considered not doing the food plan since you will have a cabin with a full kitchen anyway? It may save you money in the long run.

I would like to make a suggestion, something that we have done in the past.

While the rooms are smaller at the value resorts,,you can book two separate rooms, one with your package and one room only, for the same price it would cost you to stay at the Fort cabins or the CBR.. Just remember, you'd have to book the two rooms separately.

I'd check into that.

And WELCOME TO THE CAMPING BOARDS !!

Eh, I just looked it up and I can book them a room at the value resorts for the same price as the campground (with the 4/3 special).

ok...this may be incorrect or cheating or just morally wrong....but why does Disney even have to know mom & pop are in the cabin at all...just book it with your family of 4 and "have mom & pop come visit for a few days"!!

To be honest, you dont NEED a KTTW card when staying in a cabin for anything the campground offers except coming through the campground entrance...and couldnt they just enter through the overflow lot?

Very good point. ::yes::

It is kind of lousy that Disney requires everyone staying together in a room/cabin to be on the same package to get the dining plan.

But hey, sounds like the value resort option will work! :thumbsup2

I would call back and speak to a different CM!
When I called (3 times, I have issues with making up my mind) and asked about a similar situation (with my MIL) I was told that if I wanted to add her to our DP I needed to do so 3 days before check in, if I did not want her on our plan, I just needed to book a room that slept 5 (which is how I ended up at the GF for a bit) and then add her on once we got there. (my MIL is staying 4 nights and we don't want to have to pay for 6 days of dining for her) I asked all three CM's and got the same answer from each, 72 hours notice if we want to add them to the dining plan, just add the hotel if you don't! You may have to pay an additional adult fee.

I would wait until you arrive and add them when you get there. The front desk can do SO MUCH more than DRC when it comes to adding extra guests to packages.

I may just try to add them when we get there. The worst that happens is they throw them out...and my Aunt lives 2 hours from Orlando so they can bunk there if need be.

So, what if I wanted to have actual guests come to the campground for the day (like my Aunt and Uncle)? Is that allowed?

Please don't book the campsite and not use it. Sites are hard enough to get. Every time I hear the Fort is booked up and then I walk by an empty campsite I think it's a shame that some family can't be here.

I like that idea also, just add them on when you get there. Disney can be accomocadating when they want to or if you talk to enough of the right people.:thumbsup2

Yes.

Yup. They won't be able to drive in past the gate, but they can come and park in the overflow lot (sign on the road says Hoop-dee-doo I believe) and can either hop the bus or you can go pick them up.
