Adding DP to room only reservation

Hello experts!
I have a room only reservation which I got using a PIN code. DH and I are AP holders and now considering adding the DP or DDP as we have some pricy ADR's booked.

I called Disney and spoke with 2 different agents, (I don't have free long distance :headache: ) and they didn't seem to know if I could just add on the DP. We have annual passes, so we don't need the package which includes park tickets. The agents were pricing out packages for AP holders with the DP and it was way more expensive then just adding up the cost per person / night of stay for dining - like over $200 more!

Before I spend all my life savings calling again - does anyone know if I can add just the dining plan onto a room only ressie without turning it into a full package?

AP holders (and DVC, but that's not relevant here) can book ticketless packages which just include Room + Plan. These will then fall under the typical package rules ($200 deposit, paid in full by 45 days out, etc).

I would think that booking room only via PIN and adding a dining plan is possible. Unforunately, that's about the extent of my knowledge on the matter. If you can talk to them again, it may be good to use the "keyword" ticketless package.

Another thought is that if your current PIN is now past the booking date, they may not be able to use it? I simply don't know though.

It sounds like the OP has an annual pass but is not booking using an AP rate but a pin code. That I believe would mean you need to purchase tickets as part of the package.

Yeah, from what I understand, in order to book an AP ticketless package, you have to do so at the AP rate (regular or discounted). Normal room + ticket + DDP or room-only discounts don't apply.

You can only do an AP ticketless package (room plus dining but no tickets) if you

1. Book at rack rate
2. Book using an AP room only discount.

You can not add dining to a room discount that was obtained via a personal pin code or a general public discount code.

If the code you used was a pin code just for AP holders, you should be able to add and keep the discount.

If it was not, then no, you either have to add 1 day tickets or lose the discount.

Sorry for the confusion - I guess I shouldn't have used "pin code" it was the AP discount.
So you think I can just add the dinning? eg: 2 adults @ 47.99 each/night = 479.90 + tax? Both agents were trying to make it into some sort of crazy package where if I subtracted the cost of the room, it made just the dining plan something like $700 and that was not the deluxe :confused3

If you are booking an AP rate room, you can add dining without adding tickets. When you call back, make sure you mention that you have an AP and want to book the Annual Passholder package with dining.

You absolutely can do that. We did that last year.

Yes, you can do it, but if you don't get a CM who can figure out what's going on, then it will be a pain.

I did the same thing last year and I kept telling them the new price wasn't right. Finally, I got them to tell me what the room rate was showing for each night. There was the problem. There were no more AP rates on 2 of the nights of my trip and they were pricing it as a new reservation. It took getting a manager involved and about 1 1/2 hours on the phone to get it right in order to add the DDP to the rate I already had booked.

You can't add a dining plan without converting the reservation to a package. You either have to get a CM who knows what they are doing or you have to ask them the right question, which in this case is:

I have a room only booking with an annual passholder discount.

I want to convert this reservation to a passholder package reservation so I can add a dining plan. But I would like to keep the discount.

You can't just add the dining plan to a room only reservation. Once you add the plan it's a package, even though the AP package is a ticketless package. That means you have to follow the package policies - $200 deposit, payment in full 45 days out, change and cancellation penalties apply after the 45 day mark.

How much did you put down as a deposit? If it's under $200 you will have to make up the difference once you make the reservation a package. Are you within 45 days? If you are, you'll have to pay for the entire package as soon as you do the conversion.

There have been a number of instances of persons being quoted higher than listed price for the dining plans, especially the quick service plan. Don't know what's going on there.

Since it's an annual passholder discount you should be able to do it without having to buy any park tickets as part of the package. This works with either annual passholder or the military discounts. On any other discount you would have to buy tickets as part of the package.

My understanding is also you will be refunded the money paid on the room only res.
You will need to pay the deposit (or balance) of the AP ticketless package you book (depending how close you are in to arrival).
This is unless you paid on the room only res by check. Then the funds can be transferred.
You will not be adding a dine plan to a room only res. A room only res is just that -- room only. Those are not sold by WDTC, who sells the travel packages. (Ticketless or not.)

And if there is a $ difference -- I am going to guess the ticketless AP package is not allowing a discount on some days of the week.
