Adding DDP to paid package?

We booked and paid for a room/tickets package and after crunching menu prices we are now thinking we might like to add the Deluxe DDP. Can we add a dining plan at any time or do they have to cancel and rebook the package?

Thanks!

I believe you can add the DP to your existing reservation, but it must be done a few days before you arrive. You can't show up and add the plan at check-in.

Also, you can't add the DP to a room-only reservation- you must purchase park admission for everyone in the room as well.

You may add the dining plan to your current package no later than 72 hours prior to arrival. The plan will also need to be paid in full immediately if you are within your 45 day mark.

Could someone clarify the DDP. We are staying at VWL. However, do purchased our tickets thru AAA...are we able to still add the dining plan to our existing reservation? :confused3

If you went to AAA and they booked the room and tickets together as a package (your deposit would have been $200 and the final payment is due 45 days before arrival) then, yes, you have a package and you can add the dining plan.

If you booked just the room and then purchased your tickets through AAA separately from the room, then you have a room only reservation and you cannot add the dining plan.

Thank you. We booked thru a friend who has a DVC. I didn't know that. We were on the fence about the dining plan or doing oop, so I guess that helped us decide.

If you are booking with your friend's points, your friend can add a paid dining plan to your reservation with no ticket requirement. You cannot add free dining however.

Originally I assumed you had booked through Disney reservations/CRO.

If you are going to Disney in one month, I would check availability for restaurant reservations before you pay a fortune to upgrade to the Deluxe Dining plan. The dining plans have become very popular and most of the park restaurants and character meals will not take walk up reservations. You can book advance dining reservations 180 days out and the popular restaurants and the character meals usually book up very quickly and decent seating times at this late date may be very hard to come by. Also, if you do find some dining reservations open, I would not do the Deluxe dining plan with 6 small children on your first trip. We have 5 children and we love the dining plan, but we do the regular plan that has 1 sit-down meal, 1 fastfood meal and 1 snack.
