Adding DDP question and online ADRs

I should know this, but don't. When you add DDP to your reservation outside of 48 hours prior to your trip, do you have to pay for it right then or do you still have the option of paying for it upon check-in? Also, I know when the ADR system first opened up for DVC members it was very rocky. Has that process streamlined now or is it still error-filled? Thanks for any input. :grouphug:

I am not sure if things have changed recently or not but we were there last month. We added the DDP before we arrived and payed on arrival.

Funny this is we didn't use the online booking and still had problems. I called to book all our reservations to ensure no problems. On our 2nd to last day we get to DHS and we were dining at Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Pkg our dinner ressie was pretty early and none of our group was remotely hungry. We stopped by to see if there was any chance we could move the ressie to later in the day. They couldn't find us on their list. The woman at the counter was extremely slow. I swear I could have worked her computer better than she did and I had no training. I finally gave her my sheet that I had printed out with all of our Ressi #'s on and she finds the Ressie for 10/09. I looked at her and said well obviously there was a mistake because we weren't there in 10/09 we are here now. I told her that entire list was made at the same time and why would I make an appnt for 10/09 when I wasn't even there in Oct. After calling over the manager and them offering to take us right then and there and of course we were not hungry at that time. I told them how about you just give us the Fantasmic seating and we will leave, which is what they did. My friend decided to call the dining # to check on our ressie for the next day and guess what the same issue. I then called back the CM and after spending quite a bit of time on the phone with CM's they did get us two reservations for our last 2 days of our trip. It was very frustrating and at 1st it seemed like they were not going to do anything to help us. I stood my ground and stayed very friendly instead of getting mad which would have gotten us no where.

Moral of the story: Double and triple check your ressies whether they were made online or by phone dates and all.

The system enhancement to allow for payment of a dining plan when added to the reservation is supposed to take affect in the Spring according to the information on the member website.

I used the on-line ADR system last year when the dining window was still 90 days without any issues.
 
Thank you guys for the input. And, Christa, rest assured, I will definitely be checking and double checking my ADRs as you suggest. :thumbsup2
