I have a reservation for 4 days at one resort with a discount and then 2 at another, without a discount. If I decide to just stay at the first resort for the other 2 days instead of switching resorts after I'm actually there is this going to be a problem switching things at the front desk? and would the extra 2 nights be offered at the same discounted rate I paid for the first 4? I originally made the reservation on the phone and left a deposit on each resort because it was actually 2 separate reservations. I am concerned because if I cancel my 2nd part of my stay I am already past the 5 day cancellation policy. But being I am just switiching to a disney resort I'm already at would they just transfer my deposit that I left on the 2nd resort without a penalty to my current account at the first resort? PLMK TIA

I was at the WL in october and booked under a Fl . resident code. Well, we liked it so much that we added another day. All I did was called down to the front desk, told them what I wanted to do and theysaid they would have someone contact me. Sure enough 10 min. later the phone rings and I booked another night under my same code. Now, it will all depend on the availability of rooms, and you may want to be careful about that cancellation of that second ressie. You just might lose that deposit. Why don't you call CRO and have them handle everything for you now since you are considering this move? Have them work it out so you do not spend your vacation standing at the front desk of a resort straightening this whole thing out!

It sounds like you're not going to make your decision to stay or move resorts until after you arrive. Provided you have the time before your vacation begins, I would contact Disney guest services via e-mail. If you go to their website www.disneyworld.com and scroll to the bottom of the page, they have a link for "contact us". That way, if they do say it's okay to simply transfer the room deposit from one Disney resort to the other, you'll have something in writing. If you need an answer sooner, you can call CRO, but I'd still ask them to follow up with an e-mail to you. Bring the documentation with you.

As for honoring your rate, I would think that's not a problem so long as you're adding to an existing reservation. You're only concern may be availability of a room.

In Sept my original reservation was for 2 nights Poly GVC and 2 nights at CR Tower. We liked Poly so much we decided to just stay there. I went down to Concierge and asked if they could switch. They told me I had to call Disney Reservations. Not sure if this was because I already had a reservation somewhere else. I called and they transferred my deposit to Poly for the next 2 nights. But I was there during mid-Sept, when everyone was cancelling their trips and Ivan was still south of Cuba. So they had alot of availability.

If you are really considering this I would call and switch instead of waiting. But then again switching is fun. It lets you experience 2 different resorts.

Good Luck,
Shirley

this is a sore subject for me. We were at the Poly in February and it was snowing back home. And we drove. So, I wanted to add one night. We had a nice AP rate and they would not let us stay for the same rate - in fact we would have to pay rack rate. Ridiculous! AP rates are good for "check-in dates". Anyway, we just left and braved the weather which turned out not to be that bad. After all, we only live in NC...not talking about the northeast or anything. But us Tarheelers are afraid of snow.

I think no matter what, and especially due to weather or an emergency, you should get the rate you checked in with IF a room is available. Don't you guys agree???

oh - they did say we could have an AP rate in a LVC room...which was nice, but expensive still and we didn't want to move our stuff for one night.

On our August '03 trip, we checked in to a Contemporary wing room with the 7-for-4 plan. The room was dirty (*I* noticed the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and I'm typically far less sensitive about these things than my wife) and when the bed rail arrived it had nasty stains on it. It was clear to me that my wife was *not* happy and other factors made it obvious that getting another room wasn't likely to solve our probelms. I don't want to Contemporary-bash any further--that was over 2 years ago and some of the issues were just matters of personal preference (i.e. the decor).

In any case, we tried to get in to the Concourse Steak House, but the wait was supposed to be about an hour and we where HUNGRY. So we went to guest services and checked to see if there were any priority seatings available at Narcoosee's. There were--but for about 5 minutes from the current time. The cast member said that we wouldn't make it but I asked her was the grace period was before a PS got cancelled. "15 minutes," she said. "We'll make it," I said.

After a nice dinner at Narcoosee's, I stopped at the desk and asked if they had any rooms available. They didn't for that night, but could get us in the next day. I asked if he could check the Polynesian because we didn't really want to stay at the Contemporary even the one night and didn't want to have to change hotels the next day. He went in the back and when he came out he said he had found a room for us. :) We took the monorail back to the Contemporary, put our bags in the rental car and drove over the the GF to check in. We didn't even have to check out of the Contemporary. We were charged the difference in the rate between the two rooms so we paid exactly what we would have had we booked at the GF to begin with. (And if I recall correctly, there was no availabilty at the GF or the Polynesian for those travel dates when we originally booked.) The only -- and very minor -- inconvenience was that we had two cards. Our UPH's were on our old Contemporary key cards and we got new key cards for the room at the GF.

Also, if that last part of your stay is a room-only reservation, isn't the cancellation period 48 hours as opposed to the 5 day period for Travel Company packages? If it's booked as a WDTC package, can you rebook as a room-only reservation at this point in time? I'm pretty sure that if you change Disney resorts for those last two days, they won't penalize you--especially if you're upgrading. (I don't know that you are....)

As for the discounted rate.....I think it could end up depending on the type of discount and/or the cast member helping you. Many codes apply only to a certain number of rooms and I could them having rooms available but not at the discounted rate--just like you find when we call to make reservations. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it's either a set Disney policy to extend the discounted rate once you've checked in or done solely at the cast member's discretion. I suspect that any of the resorts' individual managers would rather extend a discount and have their occupancy rate higher than have you switch to another resort.

In our case, not only did the GF have one more room filled, but overall, the company got a few hunderd dollars more of our money. ;)

we were at PO Riverside last month - we were booked for 14 nights at the riverside at an AP rate- I had 2 reservations a 10 night and a 4 night as you can't get more than 10 nights on an AP rate.
After 4 nights I decided that I really did not like Riverside - I would be must happier at French Quarter. I wasn't sure if it would be possible to move, since we were on an AP rate and had 2 reservatoins but I went to the front desk to ask.
The CM the didn't bat an eyelid, we were moved to FQ at the same rate, both reservations were moved and the balance on both reservations was transferred across too so I had nothing further to pay.
I had expected that we would be able to get in the FQ, but I also suspected we would lose our AP rate - so I was quite relieved that we didn't.
I don't know if it helped that these are sister resorts.
