Adding CHILD on to FREE DINING package?

I am a TA with AAA and after reading this thread I called AAA Vacations at Disney to ask this question. At this moment, (but not for very much longer--possibly before the 'free dining' actually goes into effect in August--the cards will be issued with both adult or child credits on them-- Looks like so many people abused the system) if you are traveling and have paid for the plan previously --you will beable to use Child TS credits for an adult dinner.

I hope Disney does make this change. If people abuse the system, it will be more expensive for everyone else. I think adding an under 3 to your reservation and paying for a one day ticket in order to get extra adult meal credits is an abuse of the system. Nothing personal to the OP, but just MHO. I also think that if you are only paying $10/day for a child to eat, the credits should be used for children's meals.

None taken, but we weren't doing it JUST to get the TS credits (we're not THAT desperate for sit-down meals!!). We really needed the counter service ones where there's really not enough to share off of DH and my plates.

My understanding is that all people in the package have to have the same tickets-- That is, if you and DH have 5 day hoppers, so does daughter.

Here's my understanding of it all. I could be wrong but I think I'm right.

1. You could fib and say that your daughter is 3 and add her to the package. Since the meal plan is not free anymore you would have to pay $10 a day for the meals but still a bargain

2. As far as the coding on the cards, a Disney Cast Member who works at one of the restaurants explained it in one of the other forums I visited this way: If it's just you, your husband, and your dd then you could not go in and order 3 adult meals, you would have to do 2 adult meals and 1 child, however you can opt to pay for her meal. If you were to pay for her meal it would save you a table credit. You can use the saved table credits for additional meals or even to go to a 2-Table credit dining experience. The codes will stop you from ordering more than the number of allowed adult meals at one sitting but they are still pooled together and the adults can use them at other meals as long as no more than two adult meals are being ordered at a time.

Guess there are alot of ways to beat the system if you really look. I certainly would not encourage it as I would like to see Disney do this again in the future and if it is continuously abused I'm sure there will be some changes made if free dining is ever offered again. With that said, take advantage that your daughter is still under 3 and everything is free for anyway.

i'm taking my niece in the fall, and unfortunately i am paying for her as an adult, by disney standards she is an adult 11.... i have no problem with that but i will more than likely be paying for a couple of her meals since she eats like a bird and would probably enjoy the kids menu better and using the saved credits for the HDDR. either way the dining plan is a win for us.... it gives me the oppurtunity to go to restaurants i probably never would have tried.....looking forward to it

I just wanted to come back to this thread and apologize; I think my previous answer/response was wrong.
