Adding another day once at park

I have read that to add additional days to my tickets I need to do so before my current ticket is all used up. I purchased 5 day tickets. If I want to add a 6th day can I do that mid-day on our final 5th day of ticket inside the park or do I need to do so before that 5th day is scanned for entry?
Also does my entire party need to go with me to guest relations to add a day and wait or can I just go do it while they do something fun?
Thanks for any help!

You can do it after you enter. I have done it both with and without my party, just make sure you are all linked.

Yes, you can add a day on your last last ticketed day as long as the first use of the ticket was not more than 14 days earlier. You can upgrade at Customer Service at the parks, Disney Springs or a resort.

Awesome! Do I have to have their magic bands with me if they are not with me or the CM can do it without if we are all on the same MDE account?

In my experience of actually doing this: USUALLY, when a group of people are all on the same MDE, the computer screen I see after scanning one of their MagicBands or cards has a green arrow in the top corner with something like "1/5" (if they're one of a group of five) and I can tab through the entire group.

But, that's not always there, because MDE can be weird (to put it nicely). If all the tickets were purchased on the same transaction, and they were bought directly from Disney or as part of a package, or from any of the resellers that don't buy bulk tickets, I can pull up the transaction and see them all that way. If they were bought from certain resellers that buy bulk, the transaction will have, like, 5000 tickets in it, and that's not an option either. At that point, I'd have to ask the guest to pull up their MDE on their phone, get the visual IDs of the MagicBands or cards belonging to other people in their party, and use those to find their tickets. This is also the step I jump to if the tickets were purchased separately.

Long story short: It's definitely doable to upgrade everyone's tickets without their media present, but if the green arrow doesn't show up for the CM, they might not have the skills or knowledge to find the other tickets. If they tell you they can't do it, offer the visual IDs from MDE. If they don't know what to do with that, ask someone else. :)

Do you have to do this after a day is used on your ticket?? Or can you do it before you have used any days?

Thank you for this. I thought I remembered them asking to scan all the bands when I added on a couple years ago. We don't buy tickets from Disney and this time bought in 3 different transactions. Sounds like it might be simpler to just take all the bands with me when I do it to make it go faster just in case.

I like ravenclawtrekkie's advice. My experience more or less matches. You should be able to do it with just oe nabd, but bringing all of them helps to ensure a smooth transaction.

My other advice, you don't want to forget on your 5th day, or - for some reason- have to do it at a time when the GS line is long. If you KNOW you are going to modify, keep an eye out for a short line/convenient time on day 4.

Then again, buyer beware...once you buy, there are no refunds and any days you bought, but didn't use will expire (14 day window). Unexpected things can happen in the course of a vacation: a cold, a foot scrape, bad weather. It is possible that you'll decide to skip one day.

This is exactly why I want to wait till the last day to decide. Right now I have a resort day planned as our last day. I'm not sure how wiped out we will be by then. But I am thinking we MAY want to go into a park for fireworks that last night. So I want to wait as long as possible to pay to commit in case something comes up earlier in the week.

it is such a shame WDW did away with the no expire option. I liked when all tickets were no expire. When buying no expire came out, it was almost like trip insurance. If someone got sick, we just added no expire and they used their ticket another trip.

I really dislike that we can no longer do that.

Do they currently let you add days with a 10 ticket if you are staying offsite?

Nope.

And, there have been several recent first-hand reports that even on-site guests were refused that ability.
(Which does not surprise me. It is not a thing that is commonly allowed.)
