Adding another day is always better, right?

What about adding an extra day by departing on that Friday instead of Saturday and still leaving on the following Saturday?

We always stay as long as we possibly can, usually flying back Sunday evening and getting home at midnight, lol! It does make those first few days afterwards a little rough, especially when everyone has to be at work and school early Monday morning, but we still think it's totally worth it.

I would be way to depressed to just be sitting around the house all day Sunday, thinking, "We could still be at Disney!!" :rotfl2:

that would only work if they could take that friday off. to me, it's not worth it to check into disney later at night.

OP, I say GO!! for the extra day!!!! evenif you don't do a park that last day.. you could "decompress" at the resort. lol or just have an easy park day. you'll be glad you did!
worst case scenario.. you'll be tired monday and maybe tuesday.. you'll live!

I think I'm in the camp of "you need a vacation from your vacation". We always like to have an extra day just to decompress, do laundry, mow the yard, etc.

But only you and your family know how you all will adjust!

I always take a LOT of pictures and movies during vacation and use that first day home to make a "home movie" (I get pretty creative and like to add music, etc) and make my family watch them when we return. That helps me, at least, adjust from vacation mode.

"Different strokes for different folks" // On a week long trip when we can we always like to get home on Saturday, so we can chill / do laundry / get settled a little on Sunday. // Our personal preference is a slightly shorter trip with a chill out day at home.

The exception is the mini trip of four nights or less. But even with that we try to get home Sunday afternoon instead of Sunday evening.

A great vacation isn't as great to us when we are soo exhausted and thrown back into the routine without a little chill time. Call us travel weenies, but that's pur preference and what we do whenever it works out.

I like to go to Downtown Disney and get a leisurely breakfast at Wulfgang Puck Express on the last morning, it's become a tradition.

Cheers Larry.
