Hi all,

My husband, DD3, my mom and I are going to WDW for Christmas this year and my DH and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary while we are there (a month late, but the trip is for the celebration).

I made all our ADRs as a family already and got everything we wanted. When I asked the CM to add our anniversary to the reservation she seemed ... uncomfortable with it and asked "to all of them?" I hadn't meant to all of them, but I became flustered and ended up adding it to our HDDR ADR. That wasn't ideal and i'm thinking of trying to change it. I'm just concerned I'm going to look greedy or something. The CM seemed disapproving and I was wondering if I should have just left it. Do you usually add the special occassion to your ADRs? We were also thinking of getting the special buttons, but I don't want the CMs to think we are being strange.

thanks in advance,

Bianca

Call back. I don't know how many ADRS you made, but it could be daunting to ask someone to change a lot of ADRS just to add that information. They have to pull up each ADR and add the information. If you want that, call until you get someone who will do it. Even if it's difficult, if that's what you want they should probably do it without comment.

If you get a reluctant cast member, just pick a few dates.

Get the anniversary buttons and wear them, and you may not need to have it on the reservation. Don't worry about the buttons. Sometimes it seems half the visitors are wearing some sort of special occasion button.

And I would caution, even with the event on your reservations, not to EXPECT anything other than a "Happy anniversary."

Totally agree with everything. If you had gone through the entire process of making several dining reservations and then at the end, asked to have the anniversary included, that would mean the Cast Member would have to go back to everything she had just done and add the notation. It would have been easier to have that understood at the beginning. (No big deal, you didn't know).

And I especially agree with the note not to expect anything except good wishes on your anniversary. Too many people expect the servers to trip over themselves to recognize a special day but if they did that, they wouldn't have time to serve anyone else! The buttons are the very best way to get wishes if you want them.

Add it to everything . Don't pay her no mind. Call back an tell them that you want it on every ress. Also tell them how you were treated and that you were upset that you were treated that way by Disney. Have a great trip and Happy Ann.

Same thing happened to me. I had mentioned that we were there during our anniversary and if she could note it and she was like "Which ONE?" HELLO, it is a anniversary TRIP (well trip got planned around free dining and school starting and I realized our anniversary was smack dab in the middle of it, YAY). She seemed to imply that it was rude of me to ask to celebrate it the whole trip and I should only note it for one meal. Hmmm maybe it wasn't when I made my inital reservations but when I went back a added another one and asked if it was noted that we were celebrating a anniversary and she was like "Which one?"

Whatever, rude. But not as bad as noting my DS3 birthday for our reservation at the Blue Bayou in Disneyland last week and them completely ignoring him and having no clue about. They were like "Was he wearing a button?" And I said he refused to wear it, he's 3!! Because you know I complained after the meal, but the boys were too antsy to stay much longer, and before I called the manager over I checked the reservations screen, sure enough, written on there BIG.

So long story short, even with it noted on the reservations things don't get acknowledged.

Before this gets into a "my special event wasn't acknowledged" thread, please understand that when someone says "it's a birthday" or "it's an anniversary", that is ONE day. It's fine to celebrate all trip long but it's not an automatic thing for anyone to assume that you want to do that. I don't think it's rude of any Cast Member to ask which one reservation you would like to celebrate one day of the year.

If we were at home, we wouldn't have a birthday week or an anniversary week and celebrate for seven days. Well, unless we are Eva Longoria.
