Adding an Extra Day to Park Hopper

Has anyone had any luck adding an extra day to their Park Hopper ticket? I bought 3-Day park hopper tickets and now we want to add a fourth day. In the past, we would have just done this at DLR guest services after we arrived, but obviously with the need to make reservations well ahead of time, that won’t work anymore and I’d like to get it added in the next week before the mid-July day we want to add books up. I’m on hold with guest services/ticketing right now (45 minutes and counting).

OMG. I just realized this is asking almost the exact same thing as a thread just below this one. Somehow I thought the other thread was asking a different type of question. I don't think there's a way I can delete the thread.

Everything I've read on this topic, the cast members will tell you that they can't help out.

They'll recommend they can refund the cost of your 3 day Park Hopper. That way you can reserve a new 4 day Park Hopper.

Only issue with this is, it might also delete/remove all your reservations you've made on your 3 day Hopper.

Might just be better to buy an extra 1 day Hopper in addition to your existing 3 day Hopper. That way all your reservations will remain intact.

Luckily, if I have to cancel my tickets/reservations and start over, as of today all my park reservations are still available to re-book. Unfortunately, if I have to buy four brand new 1-day Park Hoppers, that would cost a total of $776. To add a fourth day on to 3-day Park hoppers would cost a total of $120. So, I'm crossing my fingers they can make some magic happen! If not, we will just skip that fourth day in the parks as was originally planned.

So, I have good news/bad news for anyone who is trying to add a day to their tickets right now. It took me a little over 90 minutes on hold to reach a cast member. He was very nice and the first response I got from him is that they are not modifying any tickets at all right now. However, when I was polite and said I understood, he almost immediately told me he "might have a way." What he could have done was "refund" my old tickets in 8-10 weeks (that's how long it's taking right now) and sell me new tickets. And if I had just bought them with my Visa, that's totally what I would have done. Unfortunately, I bought my $1500 worth of tickets with a Disney Visa Reward Card and since that's what made it seem reasonable to book the GCH as our hotel this trip (since we'd really only be paying for the hotel), and the refund to the rewards card would likely not go back on the card for 1 or more months after our trip ends, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Yes, I could have used the rewards card to pay for a future trip, but it just wasn't feeling right to me.

So, in a nut shell, it's possible to do if you are polite with the cast member and willing to wait 8-10 weeks to have your original tickets refunded to the original source.

OH! And the funniest thing happened on the call! You have to give the cast member your ticket confirmation number, name, address, phone number, and email to prove you are the person who bought the tickets. Well, my ticket confirmation number, name, phone number, and email all matched, along with the "billing" address, but the "send to" address was apparently something completely different from what I said. I gave him my home addresses from a long time ago (like 10 and 20 years ago) thinking maybe an old address got stuck in the system. Nope. I gave him my work address. Nope, that wasn't it, either. He said to let him check with "the powers that be" to see if it was okay to proceed given that all my other information was correct. They told him it was okay, so then he told me what the listed address was for me. Get this! It was 666 Sunset Boulevard, Anaheim, CA. Want to take a guess where that is located? Smack in the middle of DCA at Guardians of the Galaxy (previously Hollywood Tower of Terror). How bizarre is that????

That's interesting that they will give you a refund. I did a chat in the Disneyland app. and was advised to purchase an additional 1 day park hopper and I didn't want to do that. I think we will be going back to Disneyland in January so I opted to just purchase new tickets for our August trip and hold the shorter tickets for the January trip. But I might call and see if I can get a refund.

If it helps, the cast member I spoke with mentioned that they while technically park tickets are considered non-refundable, they are giving a certain amount of latitude right now due to COVID.

I may just keep the tickets and not worry about it. I know it's money spent already but they are good until January 2023 and I hope to be taking another trip before then! In "normal" times I would have at least 3 trips between now and then, but I would also have an AP!

I hear you on that! My family has had APs on and off for years. We would usually buy 3-5 day park hoppers, then end up converting them to APs and coming back 1-2 more times during the year, then take a 12-18 month break, and then start over again. I always like it best when we finish a trip if I know we have another trip already being planned. But this time, my oldest daughter is heading off to New York for college and I'm not sure that our vacations are going to take us to Southern California as much as back to the east coast. Of course, there's always WDW! :P

Okay, only my fellow Disney lovers will understand the depths to which other Disney lovers will go, so I hope someone here appreciates this! After the 92 minutes on hold earlier this evening, speaking with the cast member and deciding not to refund the tickets to my Rewards Card (which was going to take 10-12 weeks and I wasn't sure when I would next use those points), I spoke with my DH who is currently out of town, and he said I should call them back and just do it. He said as long as the Rewards Card points don't expire, why not just do it while reservation dates are still available! So, now I am on hold with Disney once again. I'll let you know how it goes in 90 minutes or so. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm so sad we can't add days. Had reservations to go on Saturday and was going to add a day for July 2nd to go with family. I'm glad we didn't tell our 2 year old we were going to go this Saturday. Just cancelled the reservation and added the 2nd back.

Just glad I called to confirm before going to the park on Saturday. Was planning to add the day at guest services once inside. That would have been an expensive mistake. Expecting to pay $60 to add 2x 4th days and instead have to pay for 2x one day tickets for $300.

Seems like they are leaving money on the table and making this all extra complicated.

Okay, done! I was able to get my 4-day Park Hoppers! You do have to cancel your old tickets and your existing reservations, so the very nice cast member recommended that I go ahead and buy my new 4-day hoppers making sure I got the reservation days for our stay before he pushed the final button to refund my old 3-day park hoppers. He gave me a confirmation number for my cancellation so I'll put a reminder on my calendar at about 8 weeks and 10 weeks from now so I can make sure the refund goes through, and if not, then I can call with the confirmation number just to make sure.

I am in the same boat, needing to add one more day. After reading all this, I think I might just keep our 2-day ticket and save it for a future trip. I will buy the 3-day ticket now. But my question is, is it easy to cancel park reservations? I haven't looked yet.

Yes, it is very easy. I did exactly what you said, bought new hoppers and saved others for later. And the tickets just automatically go back to your "ticket pool."
Just be sure that reservations are open for the three days you want, as there is no going back.
