And what is that? :rolleyes1 We were thinking about adding my parents to our membership but were told that we’d all have to reapply together? I had seen people mention the associate thing in here so I was just trying to clarify what it is(and how we’d do it).:thanks:

Associates can call in and work with reservations etc. But are not granted perks and access of owners. Easy to add an associate on the website. Adding a deeded owner is more complicated as it is a real estate transaction like your purchase.

  • An Associate can only make reservations and bank Vacation Points. An owner Member can request to have someone designated as an Associate without making a change to the deed.
  • An Associate will not receive a Membership Card nor do they have any privileges of ownership.

Thank you! I had gone to the website under the FAQ and all that kept pulling up was about them not being able to make changes to the loan?! I figured I was missing something somewhere!

You have a mortgage? To add them for perks you'd need a new deed, adding them as an associate doesn't accomplish this. But if they're normally going with you it shouldn't be much of an issue.

I added my dad as an associate because he is an avid Disney planner, like myself. DH could care less about planning for our trips so, even though he is on the deed as a member, he has no idea how to book the trips, manage a wait list or add Magical Express. My dad can take care of all of those things on my behalf if I need it done while I am at work. For example, my 7-month window opened on a day that I was working and since I am typically nowhere near a computer and I can't call in and sit on hold, my dad was able to call MS and make our reservation (actually, a wait list) for me. For our next trip, my mom and dad are travelling with us, but they are flying in with my sister and her family while I will be flying on a different flight with my daughters. We are all on the same reservation, but my dad can call and take care of his own DME reservations when he gets his flight info and I can take care of mine when I am ready. Having him as an associate member just gives him the ability to talk to MS on my behalf regarding our reservations. He's like my "administrative assistant":teeth:.

That sounds like my dad! I think it would tickle him to be an associate, so he feels more a part of things! Thanks for your input! :flower1:
