A member of my party is not sure if they will be able to get the time off work for our upcoming DCL cruise in Sept 2016. Can I add this person to the reservation later?
Most of the time you can do this with no problem. However, if the cruise gets close to selling out you may have an issue due to lifeboat capacity. Also it needs to be done before the deposit return date. If it is done after that they will treat the whole thing as a new booking.

When you want to add another person to an already existing reservation, DCL asks 3 questions:
1) is there space in the room you want to add them? (can't put 4 people in a 3 person room).
2) is there space in the lifeboat that room is assigned to? (it's possible for the lifeboat to be full, even if there is space in the room).
3) is there space in the appropriate kid's club? (if applicable).
If the answer is "no" to any of these questions, you will not be able to add another person to your room.
As noted, if you think you're going to have more people, it's best to have them on the reservation from the start and drop them later (by the paid in full date to get all their money back).
Also, if you are able to add that other person later, they will be paying the prevailing rate, not the rate they would have paid, had they been on the reservation to start with.
We wanted to add someone to our stateroom over 5 months out and were told at that time we could not. Our room would accommodate them but there was no room in the life boat.
Thanks for all the responses. It's my ex husband who isn't sure if he wants/can join us or not ugggggh. One other thing to note is he is retired military so the military discount would be nice. Either way he needs to hurry and decide
I was able to add someone 2 or 3 weeks out, but we knew that it may have not been possible. Just let him know that he may not be able to be added later, if he wants to wait, he may or may not be able to go.

To receive the military rate (only offered for certain sailings anyway) the qualifying active or retired military member or his legal spouse must be on the original reservation with you. Since he is your ex, he would need to be the lead on the reservation to do an MTO booking, and it would be canceled if he did not travel. As with Florida resident rates, military rates are usually offered short notice, after everyone's final payment date. So adding him to the reservation to get a lower rate would not work.
