Adding an additional guest to our already in place ADRs

Does anyone have experience with adding a guest to already in place ADRs? This would be from ADRs in place with 6 guests going to 7 guests. From what I'm seeing a phone call would be best to handle this but I just want to see if anyone has done this before and how easy or difficult it would be? Thanks in advance!

Call first, if that doesn't work, try to book ADRs for one person at or very near your ADR time and hope they will seat you together. Also, search for a party of 8 if nothing is available for a party of 7. Some of the restaurants really like even numbers, so availability will only show for them. You will not be penalized for showing up with 7 people instead of 8. Depending on when you are going and where you are eating, adding another person can be very challenging.

Forgot to mention that if you try to book an ADR for one, you will need to do it on a separate account that's not linked to yours. Have your partner or whoever set up a new account.

Call. And keep calling. Do everything you can before your trip. Showing up with an extra guest should always be the very last thing you do, as they could be turned away. Going from 6 to 7 makes it even more tricky, as you will need a larger table than the one you currently need.

Also depends on where you are eating. For instance if it's an ADR for BOG breakfast or lunch there are no assigned seats so booking an additional ADR for 1 person at the same or close to it time as the larger party will still allow you to sit together.

This is never easy if you are holding hard to get reservations. There's a reason that people plan 180 days in advance.
If you are staying club level at a Disney Deluxe Resort, call Signature Services and ask them to work on adjusting your reservations.

What if the extra person is an infant? (1 Year Old) I made an ADR for 4 people (5 and 6 were not available.) Do you think we will have trouble showing up with 5, since #5 is a baby? Thanks

Yup. All people need to be counted. Some others get away with it, others do not.

@Flagge : have you tried modifying the reservation on MDE (on a computer) if the phone call doesn't work?

as previous poster said, all people in your party must be accounted for in your reservation. They may or may not accommodate the extra guest, even if the guest is a baby. The biggest reason is to comply with fire code occupancy limits, but they also might not have a table available that can accommodate a high chair.

Our party went from 5 people to 6 people after we made our ADR's back in March. We did call right away and we were able to add the extra person to all but 3 of our ADR's. I keep checking for the ones we couldn't add them to and I use the TP's reservation finder. So far, I have been able to add them to 1 of the 3 so I am still checking for the last 2 ADR's. My Dad did say not to worry about it and that we could go to those without them and we will meet up. They are early PPO Epcot ADR's.

Thanks everyone! The additional guest is still deciding if they want to go or not and I just wanted to be prepared. If I do have to add them I'll update with how my experience went.

I would try to add them now. You won't be penalized if you show up with less people, but the longer you wait, the harder it might be to add an extra person.

You may. For ADRs every person needs to be counted, no matter how small they are. Try to change your ADRS them to the proper party size ahead of time. Otherwise, you may be told not everyone can be seated. And then what would you do? If you walk away then and there Disney is within their rights to charge you the $10 per person no show fee. If you don't take your table you are considered a no show. Best to get it sorted out ahead of time.
