Adding a points booking to a cash booking for DLP 2008?

Hi,

I am a new DVC owner, only signed up 3 weeks ago, with a june use year.

We cannot go back to WDW until 2009 and as we are going to DLP for christmas 2008 I was thinking about using my 2007 points to book a couple of extra nights at the end of our holiday at the Disneyland hotel as a surprise treat for my kids.

We always book with Disney for DLP and get the package including the eurotunnel crossing, as DH likes to drive.

Originally my problem was just trying to organise the return crossing for after the 2 extra days booked using points, but now that member services has just told me that future DLP points bookings aren't going to include park tickets, and apparently a condition of booking using points is that you buy a length of stay ticket for each person in the room, I am now confused as to how the whole thing would work. To be honest I am starting to think it won't be possible to do it at all now.

Can anyone help me make sense of all of this? Has anyone done a cash and points reservation at DLP?

I want to book 3 nights at the Davey Crockett ranch over christmas and then add 2 nights at the Disneyland hotel using my points.
I will have 3 night, 4 day hoppers from the original booking, but I am then supposed to buy further 2 night, 3 day passes for the points booking, meaning that 2 of the days overlap, the last day at the ranch and the first day at the disneyland.
Can I save one of the days, or buy an annual pass and still use points?

Has anyone any idea how the transport side would work, can I book the return journey for 2 days later using the Disney packages, or would I have to book the travel seperately?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I would like some clarification on this too. I intend to stay 3 nights at the Disneyland using points in January. When I found out that we will now have to puchase passes, I decided that I would purchase an annual pass and use the 10% discount you get as an annual passholder to purchase passes for the other 3 members of my party (2 adults and 1 child). Does anyone know whether this is possible? :confused3 I know that I could just phone MS but won't be able to do this for a few days due to working shifts. Any info would be gratefully received :thumbsup2

Hi it's me again. Just managed to phone MS and the bad news is that to now book DLP on points you are obliged to buy length of stay passes for all members of your party and pay for them at the same time as you make your reservation. This is terrible because if you are an annual pass holder you are still obliged to buy a length of stay pass if you want to use points to stay at one of the hotels:sad:

I think this is terrible and also see it as a slap in the face and proof of what many DVCers are saying that Disney do not want DVCers to used their points for anything other than DVC stays. Without coming out and saying so they are trying to discourage us from using our points at Disneyland Paris. We have thought about using these hotels with our points as a base when driving through France on the way to our holiday home in Spain and would therefore not necessarily want to visit the parks but now do not really have the option.

It just pushes us to rent out the points and get any offers at disneyland paris and pay with cash.

I have previously used points at Disneyland Paris for a stay at the New York and was very pleased, but I definately think it will be cash stays from now on and rent our DVC points out to pay for the stay if we cannot get to the US.

Many thanks for the heads up.

Susan
