Adding a person without changing reservations

I booked a trip for my boyfriend and I for this fall to take advantage of the free dining plan offered. We'll be staying at Pop Century, and using Disney's Magical Express. We originally wanted to take my soon to be 5 year old neice, but she starts Kindergarten and I wasn't sure how that would work out. I was thinking of waiting until school starts and talk with her teacher about it.
So... I was wondering- if it turns out that she won't be missing much, will Disney be ok if we bring her along and just buy her tickets and meals separately? How could I do this without changing everything at the last minute?

Can you add her now and then remove her later? That might be easier although I have read that someone was successful in adding someone to their reservation after free dining ended, and getting free dining for that person as well. Still I would call to make sure if you wanted to chance it, and if I got a negative I'd call again :) just to make sure. However I believe everyone in your party must have the dining plan so that would explain why Disney wouldn't have a problem adding it after the promotion has ended.

If you bring her along she has to be on the same package. I would go ahead and add her now.

Add her now, last year we added our daughter (adult) several weeks after I booked our trip with the free dining. If you wait till it is closer then you might pay a penalty for changing your reservation.

As far as your niece goes for missing school, she will learn alot more on a trip to WDW than she will in Kindergarten. Most teachers will work with you, it's not like she will have a pile of homework to take along. It would be much harder if she were in high school. The teacher may have her do a journal or something during the trip to share with the class. We have taken our kids out of school for family trips many times and at different ages, we always talked to the teachers ahead of time and got work to go with. Your neice is a lucky girl to have family that will take her on vacation especially to WDW!

If you add her when you arrive she will only be in your room and not on the ddp and you will have to buy her a ticket. If you want her on the package you need to add before the 5 day out time and even then it will cost you a fee. After the 5 day mark I don't think that you can get the ddp. If you add her at the 45 day mark you will have no trouble getting all the benefits of your package and as long as whoever you add is not exceeding your room limit than you add anyone or upgrade to a resort that will hold more than 4. If it is easier for you to just pay for her ticket and food when you are there then do that but also consider if you add her to your package you are only paying for her ticket.
