Adding a night

Has anybody had success with adding a last minute reservation (less than a week ) for the night before your planned check in?

We are checking in on Friday, and have been trying to add Thursday night.
Just wondering of the chances of something opening up with only 1 day left.
I understand it's a busy time. Wasn't sure if there was any hope left to try again tomorrow.

When my flight got canceled in on August 5th, I was able to get a studio at SSR for that day. It was amazing - we found out our flight was canceled, and Disney helped us right away by getting us a room and transporting our bags back from the airport to the hotel. It was truly magical.

We tried to do that about 10 days out and gave up and added 2 nights post through CRO (cash) at a moderate for our trip earlier this month. October is really a busy DVC month. There were lots of rooms available at the moderates though.
