Adding a guest to a GT reservation

If you added the DCL insurance. You can get cruise credit if he can’t make it.
That depends on the reason why he can’t cruise. We always get insurance that covers cancellation due to “work reasons”. There is also “cancel for any reason” but that costs more and generally you need to buy it within the first 2 weeks after booking the first part of your vacation, whether that was flights, cruise, etc.

Didn't see a need to start a new thread for this question...I may have one more person that would be interested in cruising. Would Disney allow a *GT "transfer" to a new *GT booking? I currently have an VGT & IGT booking (4 people per booking), so what I'm asking is would Disney allow me to take a person from one of my *GT bookings and add them to a new *GT booking without penalty?

I would call but if it’s a matter of where someone sleeps, they don't care which of your cabins your family sleeps in.

It's more a matter of placing a single person in a new *GT stateroom and paying double occupancy rates (i.e. Instead of 2 *GT staterooms with 4 people each (8 total occupants), can I transfer 1 person so that I have 3 *GT staterooms with 4, 3 & 2 people (9 total occupants)?

I think technically the answer to that is no and you would be attempting to remove a member from a room but as previously stated it's worth trying as this would also be an increased fare for the passenger you want to move. Actually looking at this, since I've never attempted to book a single passenger, I doubt they would let you move the fare over since that would actually reduce the overall cost paid and it wouldn't be in their favor to do so.

It seems no one has experience with what you’d like to do. The only way to know for sure is to ask your TA or call Disney if booked directly.
Let us know how it works out for you.

Glad I found this thread. We find ourselves in this situation. We are ready to book a Vgt or OGT this week and my GD wants her bff to go. Her parents are hesitant to make a decision (she’s 18 And would be paying herself). we are going regardless. Since our two rooms would be 2 adults and 2 adults & 2 teens, it may be possible to add bff to my room later. I would double check this info with my TA tough, but good to see there’s a chance.

I think an issue that might come up that has nothing to do with the rate of the room is occupancy. When we booked the cruise we're going on next month, originally there were only 3 of us. But then another friend asked to come with us and we had our travel agent add her to our reservation. The stateroom we were in could have 4 people sleeping in it but that category/section had sold out and no more guests could be added to it. I'm assuming it's a safety reason. I haven't seen anyone else mention that so maybe it's not something that happens often though.

Thanks, yes I thought about that also. Since one room would only have 2 in it, we thought that might help our chances of adding one to our room, making it 3.

It’s the muster station/lifeboat capacity. Just because there is an open bed in a stateroom it may not be possible to add another guest. Adding another passenger depends on 3 things:
  • Is there a bed in the stateroom
  • Is there space in the lifeboat?
  • If adding a minor, is there space in the respective kids’ club?

I’ll post back how it goes. Hopefully the odds are on my side. I’ll have 3 cabins with only 2 people in each cabin. My granddaughter’s bff is still deciding, so would try to add her to one of the 3 cabins. We just can’t wait much longer. Don’t want to miss the VGT fare.
