Adding a day to ticket - question

Thanks to both jco_direwolf and Robo for the response and sorry for the confusion. I think I was posting my request for clarification at the same time you were posting your clarifications.
I've got it now!

Not a problem.

BTW, it can never be a wrong thing to USE a ticket to enter a Theme Park at least one time BEFORE doing any kind of upgrade (like adding a day.)

It can't HURT, and it very well might HELP.

I've never seen this kind of thing referenced on the "Disney website." Are you sure you didn't read that HERE on this forum in the "Everything About Tickets" sticky?
Nope! I read it on the Disney website's FAQ.

To be clear: UT wasn't mentioned. It was just a general question about upgrading Magic Your Way tickets after purchase.

I plan to upgrade my 5-day ticket to a 6-day, and my understanding
from the Disney website is that I can't upgrade until I've entered a park at least once (ticket has to be used first).

Nope! I read it on the Disney website's FAQ.

I beleive that you might have read the info incorrectly.

Guests can certainly upgrade tickets before going into a park.

What is important to know is that IN CERTAIN CASES, it is advantageous financially to use the ticket for park entry before upgrading.

I do understand the part about the information not actually being on the Magic Band. However, the band is what one must use in order to gain access to the park. Unless of course, one actually asks for a hard ticket.

I suppose, of course, that it's smart to save all receipts.

1. Yes (and not a bad idea, either.)

2. Yes.

There's no mention of "using the tickets before ugrading" on the Disney site that I can find (I didn't remember seeing that reference.) But yes, the UT site should talk about this.
Maybe not, so I can't say exactly where I read the "must enter park first" part. I've never upgraded a ticket before or used UT, so I researched that particular situation on several websites most likely.
