My extended family is going to WDW next week. We are staying onsite and our packages have 5-day tickets and the meal plan. One of my nieces has the opportunity to stay an extra day. Can she add a day on to her park ticket once we get down there? It was my understanding that she couldn't add a park day before we go unless everyone in the room was going to add a day as well.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help.

1- Can she add a day on to her park ticket once we get down there?

2- It was my understanding that she couldn't add a park day before we go unless everyone in the room was going to add a day as well.

1- Yes. Easily.

2- Correct.

HOWEVER:
Once everyone is at WDW and each person HAS his/her tickets in-hand, each can be upgraded (or not) individually.

The cost to add an extra day to a 5-day ticket is $10.65 per day, per ticket.

1- Yes. Easily.

Just one ticket out of the package though? I've easily done this, but only for everyone on the package. Disney is pretty strict with having everyone on a package match.

Edit: Sorry. #2 of your response was cut off when I read it. So she could add it once the trip has started?

1- Yes, but only AFTER everyone is at WDW and has received her/his ticket.

THEN the upgrade is easily done.

2- Agreed and I have updated my answer to be more clear.

Yes the tickets before you check in must be all the same once you check in the tickets become separate entities

Sorry, I'm not sure I was clear. Can only one person out of the package add a day once you are in the parks? (I understand that it can't be done with way beforehand.)

Thanks again.

Yes we know what you are asking and we keep saying yes. Take the single ticket to GS/ticket window and they can make the one ticket a 6 day pass for about $11.

Lots of people book these packages with 1 or 2 day tickets intending to put different days and options on each.

I plan to upgrade my 5-day ticket to a 6-day, and my understanding from the Disney website is that I can't upgrade until I've entered a park at least once (ticket has to be used first).

I have a similar question:

I will be traveling solo, and I have a 5 day parkhopper. I am spending 5 nights at Pop Century, and then I am moving to an offsite hotel for 2 additional nights. I wasn't planning on doing a Disney Park on the last full day at the offsite hotel. However, since all the Frozen stuff popped up at DHS, I am now thinking that it would be fun to spend one more day in the parks.

My question is this. I know that I can add a day to my ticket. However, once that is done, will my ticket still be on my Magic Band, and will the Magic Band still work to get me into the park once I am no longer an onsite guest?

Tickets directly from Disney park entry is not nessary. 3rd party tickets bought at a discount it is. Entering the park "locks in the gate price". So you get full current gate price of your ticket.

The process is called "bridging".

1. Yes. (So to speak.**)

2. Yes.
Guests can use MBs even if not staying on WDW property.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.
Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.
So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

Why does this distinction matter?
Because there is so much fear about losing bands and,
in turn, losing all of a guest's information thought to be on the band.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

Nothing is on your magic band. Your ticket is in your MDE account as long as your MB is active in MDE (you've not disabled it though the website or asked for Disney to disable it) it will be able to access you admission media.

Agreed.

HOWEVER:

Tickets purchased as part of a WDW RESORT PACKAGE
are not considered a "purchased directly from Disney"
and ARE subject to price-bridging (when appropriate.)

Only ticket-only purchases from Disney made directly over the phone, on-line, or at the WDW gates are not subject to price bridging.

Ok thanks! I bought my ticket from Undercover Tourist, so I guess that's why I have entry before upgrade on the brain. :)

I've never seen this kind of thing referenced on the "Disney website."

Are you sure you didn't read that HERE on this forum in the "Everything About Tickets" sticky?

Thanks to both jco_direwolf and Robo for the response and sorry for the confusion. I think I was posting my request for clarification at the same time you were posting your clarifications.
I've got it now!
