Adding a day to beginning of ticket?

We are doing a spur of the moment trip. I bought a couple of two day base tickets from Undercover Tourist and successfully linked them right up to MDE. The first day on the ticket is 7/28. Now we have decided we would like to go to a park on our arrival day 7/27. Called to add a day to the ticket and the agent said she couldn't do it. Is that correct? Has anyone faced this before? Am I correct in thinking that I can't make fp with this ticket on 7/27 and add another day once I get down there? Why did they have to make it so complicated??

With the date based tickets, unless you paid for the flexible option you are locking in your "start" date and your ticket is priced based on the dates you selected. You should be able to upgrade your ticket from a two day to a three day, and change the start date (while paying any difference in cost), but it may be hit or miss whether a phone CM can do it (you may have to call back a few times to get someone who knows what they're doing).

You’ll have to add on the day when you arrive at WDW because you bought your tickets through UT and have already linked them to your MDX account.

Don’t call Disney because they can’t Modify your ticket prior to your arrival.

Thanks! Got it figured out and done. Had to pay $8 to change start date and then was able to add day 3!

If you Modified the ticket via your MDX account, that means Disney is finally allowing the Modification of third-Party tickets via MDX. They had advertised this prior to the new ticket structure but it hadn’t been available to guests.

I think it's been this way for awhile now. My dd went in May and her friend had a UCT ticket and was looking to modify it, and it gave her all the options in MDE. She decided not to. And last week I completely changed the dates of my park hopper purchased from UCT through MDE, no issues at all. Quick and easy.
