Adding a day to a ticket - is this right?

I read the sticky on tickets, but want to be sure I have it right. I have a 7-day base tickets that were purchased at a 6-day price with the 7th day free. We might want to upgrade to 8 days, but will decide when we are there. If we do, we need to use the ticket first and then our upgrade fee will be the difference between the current 7-day and 8-day price, right? That is a $10/ticket difference.

If we were to upgrade now, before it's used, we'd pay the difference from the old 7-day and new 8-day, which is $25/ticket.

And, even though we paid the 6-day price and got the 7th day free, that 6-day price doesn't come into play for this.

Do I have it right?

I just wanted to add that you might want to wait to do the upgrade until you are absolutely sure you want to add that eighth day as the price will be the same.

My son and his family were in the same situation. They paid for a six day pass but thought they could use the ticket eight days but weren't sure. On the fifth day, they still had two days left on their trip which included the last day as being a travel day in the afternoon. That's when they decided to do Downtown Disney on that last day and only needed one more day on their ticket. If they had upgraded at the beginning of the trip to eight days, they would have lost out on either a relaxing last day since they would have kind of been forced to use that last day at a park or they would have lost money. Remember - once you upgrade, you can't downgrade and get money back.
