Adding a day (or two) before or after?

We're booked at the Grand Californian Jan 18-20 (Fri-Sun) and we're thinking about adding a day, or maybe two days, on to our trip. Would you add it in the beginning for Thurs-Sun or at the end for Fri-Mon. It's MLK weekend and Tinker Bell half marathon weekend, by the way.

Extra info: I've been to DLR many times but it'll be my first Cars Land trip. We're going for Tink so the weekend is unchangeable. Also, it's the first time ever for the person going with me.

MLK week is pretty busy. The worst 3 day weekend of the year and some schools take the week off.

For Cars Land which will be busy that week it would be good to be there on an uncrowded day. It's either going to be the Thursday and Friday morning before or the Monday after. The former would give you more quiet time, but it's nice to finish on low crowds.

If you're talking Mon/Tues, I'd do after. If you're talking just Mon, I would do before. MLK day is very busy, but the day after (Tues) was very slow last year.

We were at DL over MLK weekend this past January and I don't remember it being terribly busy. I thought it was a rather nice weekend. Not empty but not crazy either.

I would suggest adding it before so you get lots of rides done on that Thursday and can spend the days as you get closer to the holiday at a more leisurely pace- redoing your favorite rides.

I'm running the Tink again this year and we're opting for adding days on after. That's only because I don't want to be walking all over the parks before I run 13.1. Afterwards, you have no stresses and are feeling great! Of course, I'm worried about staying after because Monday is MLK, but I decided a while back that I can't figure out the DLR crowds and I just have to expect the worst. I'm either prepared or pleasantly surprised.
