Adding 1 to a reservation

After a year of planning, my BIL just decided this week to join our trip at the end of September. Happy he's coming but now scrambling with some of our reservations since nothing is available (we were already 8 people and this will make us 9.)

We have a 7:30 reservation at La Hacienda de San Angel but it's not allowing me to change the number of people. Do I make a reservation for 1 person and hope he can squeeze into our table or will that not even help?

Actually does anyone know if large parties can be seated near a window there or are larger tables only in the back? If we can't see Illuminations anyway it might just be easier for me to cancel altogether. Thanks!

Try making a reservation for ten. Or, try making a reservation for one, arrive early, ask to be seated together. Or try for a reservation for two, four, or six, then amend your existing reservation (or not.)

Or try Touring Plans reservation finder for either number. Or tell your brother-in-law you love him but you aren't able to add him to your reservation.

Be willing to be split up. Never ate there, don't know the layout, but yeah, it's more likely that large tables wouldn't be near the window. But don't expect to be seated near a window anyway.

Try calling the reservation number to see if they can work with you, (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463.

I had to make changes in Disneyland and the restaurant worked with me amazingly well. We had 2 reservations as I couldn't book for 14, then they merged them and helped me add one more person to it.

There's only a handful of tables near the window with an Illuminations view. That is also a popular time for a window table request. I would think it could be difficult for a large group to get one of those tables. And if you don't, it would be difficult to see anything of Illuminations. I would probably cancel if that was your only goal.

Alternatively, you could try Rose & Crown. If you're not able to get a patio seat with a view, they have a standing room only section where all patrons are able to go stand for a good view of the show.

Adding to an existing reservation can be difficult.
Best option is to call Disney Dining and see if they can help.
If you are staying on site, the front desk can be helpful or checking with the restaurant the day of can work.
If you can find the phone number for the restaurant, calling direct is another option.

I’ve dined there twice before with a large group (coincidently also 9) and both times we’ve been seated in the front room without windows. That said, I have seen a large group in the main dining room. If seeing Illuminations is your priority, I wouldn’t count on being able to view from your table and try to adjust your time so you can be done with dinner and find a spot around the lagoon.
