Hi

We have had some great news the last couple of days in that we are taking my Daughters BFF with us to Orlando this year!! I have done all the necessary travel arrangements etc but today when I rang Disney Dining there were a couple of reservations that I couldn't change from 5 persons to 6 persons.

They were at Teppen Edo, Rose and Crown and our Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mamo Melrose.

I am thinking that I will just turn up to the reservations and say it should have been 6 not 5 in the hope that they can pull up an extra chair!!

Has anybody any experience of this and what do you think my chances are? :confused3

If the restaurant is full to capacity at the time you arrive, the extra person won't be admitted. That doesn't happen very often, but it does happen.

I honestly doubt you will be turned away at either of those restaurants. one extra person is not a big deal. I wouldnt worry. Did you call a CM and tell them about your issue? if not, i would do this right away. I know other ppl who've had the same problem and called....the CM on the phone changed the # in their party without a problem. If you are not successful with the person you speak with, call back! You'll be amazed at the different responses you will get from different CM's!! If you've called endlessly, from now until your vacation, I would keep trying for another reservation ONLINE. While on your trip if you still are not successful, ask concierge to check for you. And FINALLY, just show up at the podium and tell them it should be 6 not 5. At Rose/Crown & Mamma Melrose, since you are a party of 5 you will automatically be seated at a 6 top table. So the extra person will not be a problem. Teppan Edo is a different story thou. Each station seats 8 ppl. Although I still think Teppan Edo will accomodate you. Good luck! ;)

this poster is in the UK, so I don't know if they'd be able to call WDW a lot. Trying to find another reservation for 6 online is a good move. And I still cannot absolutely assure her that her extra person will be admitted.

Yikes!! I didnt notice that the poster is from the UK! I can see why calling would be an issue. In that case, keep trying online for another ressie. If your not successful, call as soon as you arrive at your resort. If your staying at a disney resort, speak with the front desk staff.

My family keeps adding themselves to our vacation, so I know what your going through! At first it was my brother and his wife. I was able to add them to some of the reservations - some I had to nix, and get different ones. Now their son is coming. Oy!! I love them all, but they are killing me! If they had just told me that they were coming at 180 days out, it would have been just fine, but they are joining in at the last minute here.
Anyway.... I tried to add just one more to about 4 more reservations, and was able to add him no problem to all of them but one. The one was at Kona Cafe for dinner, and the CM told me it would most likely be just fine - All of us should just show up, and they would be able to seat us no problem.

On our first Mom-Daughter trip, my niece really wanted to come up from Palm Beach. I said yes because we don't get to see her that often, and she's my daughter's favorite cousin. Had a much tougher time getting ressies changed than I expected for Teppan Edo and Le Cellier (but I expected that one) and ended up having to switch the Teppan Edo one to a later time in order to get her in.

Maybe that would work for you? Good luck!

We had this situation last year, changing from a group of 7 to a group of 8. It seemed to make no sense - how many tables for 7 wouldn't accommodate 8? But it's a quirk of how their booking system works - if you call/go online to change an ADR, they basically see if there is another table available for the new size of your party, and if there isn't, they say they can't change it. To get _your_ table that you already have an ADR for, you have to cancel that ADR to release it into the system and then try to reserve it. But then you're taking a huge chance that it might get snapped up by someone else and leave you nothing.

We were able to get almost all of our ADRs changed without difficulty, though we did have to change the times for some of them. The only one they couldn't do was, not surprisingly, Le Cellier. We kept our original ADR for 7 people and they were able to add our extra person when we got there. We knew there was a chance it wouldn't work, but our extra was my brother, who knew he was a last-minute addition, and he was okay with wandering around at Food & Wine if they couldn't include him. That level of uncertainty may not work for everyone, but we were okay with it.

The ADR in your list that sticks out to me as the biggest issue with trying a last-minute addition is the Fantasmic dinner package. They seem quite strict about numbers for that.

In February 2010, I was a guest of DCuzs who had dinner at the castle for 5 people, I would be the 6th. No matter how many times DC called, I could not be added, however, when I showed up with them, expecting to be turned away DC was told, No Problem! I hope you are as lucky as I was!

It's my understanding that the table assignments are done for even numbered parties and if you start out with an odd number, your table is going to be for the next highest even number.... so a party of 5 will be assigned a table for 6....

I don't think that's exactly true, or if it is they won't say that. When we had 7 and needed to change to 8, they could not do that for all of our ADRs in their system.
