How difficult is it to add one person to a dining reservation? We have a reservation for 6 for a dinner at Yak and Yeti, but now we will have one extra person with us. I'm trying to change the reservation on MDE but it says there's nothing available for 7 people. Is it easier to call? Or just wait until that night and show up? Or will we be turned away? Thanks so much for your help.

It's easier to call from my experience.
I was changing from a 2 to a 3 one trip and online it kept saying that nothing was available, I risked it and cancelled it to right away re book it for 3, and it worked out fine.

Going from an even to an odd number is always trickier than the opposite. If you call and nothing is available, then keep your resso for 6. The MORNING (or as SOON as the restaurant opens in the morning) have someone go straight there, give them your name & adr time and let them know that you actually have 7 people. The earlier they know, the easier and quicker it would be to accommodate the change in party size!

But they don't have to accommodate you at all, so be prepared for that if you can't get the ressie changed. You'll either need to eat the no-show charge or some of you will need to use the ADR.

The problem is they can't just add a chair to your table. Fire codes and flow if traffic play a part in all of the ADRs made.

If you know you won't go unless all 7 of your can go, then I'd cancel the existing ADR now and keep trying for the 7. As PP said, sometimes just the cancelling of the one table will allow you to do what you want.

It's a possible situation. I am WELL aware they MIGHT not be able to just pull up another chair to the table (many tables can be capped).

-Another thing Y& Y could do would be to split you up into a 3 and a 4, or some combination of that. Disney is very accommodating to their guests, and will always try to please them, I should know. ;) it might add onto your wait time a bit, or if you go in the morning, they may ask if you can come in earlier, or even at lunch to accommodate the party size.

TO OP:-What time is your reservation? How open are adr's for that time? Like, not of parties of 7, but search smaller parties between 3-5 and see how many open times around your time there are. If it isn't solidly booked, there's an even higher chance of them being able to do something about it.

When I had this happen, I got creative with the reservations. You could see if there is available for tables of 3 and 4. We also just showed up at one meal and were accommodated with the extra person, but we knew were prepared for the possibility that the extra person was going to need to go eat somewhere else.

Given how easy it is to sometimes secure smaller tables, have you considered 7 tables of 1, or 3 tables of 2 plus a single?

Other than that, keep the party of 6, and whoever has done the most to complain and get on your nerves that day gets to sit outside on a bench and contemplate their wrongdoings.
