I have a res for halloween morning for 4 of us, breakfast at CRT. well, my mom is trying to go with us now so i called to see about adding a person and they said no! is that normal? so i asked if there were other times or days and she said no. I dont even think I can cancel because we had to pay up front.

Adding one more to an ADR seems a popular topic these days. The basics of it are this.
Restaruants have tables for 2,4,6,8.
If you are going from and odd number to an even number it is usually no problem because you will still use the same size table
If you are changing from an even to an odd you will need a bigger table.
CRT is a very popular and crowded meal, changing you to a bigger table may not be possible, I think CRT usually sells out early.
It doesn't really matter, in terms of table size, what the age the kids are since all chairs are the same size, meaning you cannot just squeeze in the little one.

I was in a situation like this once. I really wanted to take my niece to the 1900 park faire Cinderella dinner. I could only get a ressie for two (me and niece). She was four. A few days before that dinner my hubby got sick and I had to take my neice to Crystal Palace by myself. Both Crystal Palace and 1900 are buffets. It was really really hard to do a buffet with a four year old by myself. I decided we would skip 1900 park faire and went by the night before to cancel. The manager of the restaurant happened to be at the podum. He asked me why I was canceling. As I explained he said, "don't be silly. Just come tomorrow and tell us you have one more. Its no problem." So I did just that.

The point of my story is, I've heard lots of reports of disney dining not being able to add "one more person" but I've also heard of several people showing up at the restaurant with one more and being seated no problem. The lady who does my nails said she and her family showed up 40 mins late with three extras and were seated at CRT. It wouldn't hurt to swing by CRT prior to your ADR and ask if bringing your mom along would be a problem or not.

Thanks for the info. I think Im going to keep calling every few days and if nothing- we'll just bring mom and see what happens! yikes.
