Wife and I added on a 50 point direct contract this afternoon which came with 2015 points and 2016 points. We have an August use year. We have a trip booked that used our 2015 points until we received these today. I just checked the member dashboard and the points are showing already, but it shows points available 50, points available to bank 0. Since we received them after the banking date of 3/31 shouldn't we be able to bank them? I can't call member services until tomorrow, but wanted advice from the experts first. Thanks for your replies.

Funny you should ask this because I am very close to adding on with Poly direct and I also have an August UY.
I was thinking the exact same thing.

Know that the banking date is missed (3/31 as you state), I was going to insist to the Guide that it was the first criteria for buying the add on.

I'm thinking instead of Member Services, you might want to call your Guide. I would 'think' that he could be the go-between with Member Services to get those points banked. Especially since I believe you have a certain period to actually cancel if you don't like the answer. I know it would be enough for me to cancel.

Unless something has changed, DVC allows those who buy directly from Disney to bank the current UY points they receive with their contract even if they are past the normal banking deadline at the time they purchase. Give MS a call and ask them to bank the points. It should not be a problem but if it is, either hang up and call again (and hope you get a different MS CM!) or call your guide and ask him/her to intervene on your behalf.

ETA: You cannot bank these points online because as far as the online software is concerned, you are past your banking deadline. This is an exception case so you have to call MS to get those current UY points banked into your next UY.

I called MS this morning. About a 15 minute wait to talk to a CM, but the points were banked in less than 2 minutes. Very easy, no issues.

For others reading the guide who sold you the points should offer to bank them for you and historically they can also help get you your first reservation. I see it as a service that you get for paying a premium price, especially since their rules change will be driving people to buy direct contracts to qualify for perks.
