Added extra day, no fast passes.

I booked a stay at POP (Aug24-31) during free dining with 7 day park hoppers. Then about a month ago I booked a single night at AoA (Aug 23) for one night prior to our stay at POP. Today I changed my 7 day tickets to 8 day tickets. The cast member who changed my tickets explained my free dining won’t take effect until I check into PoP, which I understand.He said I need to go to the front desk when I get to AoA to activate my tickets early so we can go to the park the first day since our package at PoP doesn’t start until the next day. He also stated I will not be able to book fast passes for that first day until I activate the tickets at AoA but I can book the remaining 7 days at 60 days out. The cast member was great and adding an extra day was only 30$ total for the 4 of us so it’s not a big deal, but if my reservations are linked I thought I could book fast passes. Does this seem correct?

That's exactly how it worked for us when we did a split stay with 2 nights no dining (before free dining dates), then 7 nights free dining. We had to activate the tickets at the park and were not able to get FP for those first days until we did that.
I know they have changed things since then with the date-specific tickets, I hope the CM got it right for you as I know there can be some confusion with start dates.

According to what TAs were told when the switch to date based tickets took place, you can *not* activate tickets early when booked as part of a package.

Tickets booked as part of a package will not show valid until the package reservation start date, regardless of a pre-package reservation. The CM was correct that you will not be able to book FP for your early arrival day. I don’t know if you might need to “upgrade” to activate those tickets early. Unlike the old ticket structure, date-based tickets are more complicated when it comes to such things.

Ok, thanks for the help. One more question, can I book my FP 60 days from my AoA check in or 60 days from my Pop check in? I know I cant book the first day regardless but when can I book my other ones?
