We decided to add a night at the start of our trip. Same resort, same room category, same exact type of room as the rest of our vacation. What are the odds that we can just check in on our first night and they won't make us change rooms?

Port Orleans Riverside garden view with a 5th sleeper for our first night, then we have that same room booked for 8 nights...

Add "continuing reservation" with the number of the other reservation to each of your reservations. When you check in for the first night, check with the front desk to see if you are blocked into the same room.

No guarantee. But they will do their best to keep you in the same room, as then they don't have to do the same sort of cleaning (or any cleaning if you opt out) as they would if they were putting the room back into inventory for someone else.

Make sure you have continuing reservation added and linked to existing reservation. When you check in also speak with a CM about it. Then that evening check with the desk again to make sure the same Room is blocked for the rest of your stay.

Its easier for them to keep you in the same room. As long as you tell them immediately upon checkin, they'll do everything possible to make it happen. You should be fine!

Personally, I would just call WDW and make sure that the two reservations are linked in their system. That will increase the likelihood for you to remain in the same room. I wouldn't think it would be a problem, especially if it is the same room category.

I was wondering why you have 2 res? We just added on 3 days to beginning of trip and my TA was just able to add it to existing res. We don’t have 2 res #s.

You can't always do that. Now the whole trip has to be available as one booking for that to work.

Guess I was lucky then That my trip was available with the added dates. I have years ago added on days but did it on a separate res because I had DDP pkg and didn’t want DDP for added days.
