Man, I feel like a fool coz I've seen things on the Community Board here at DIS where I've thought why can't the OP just google that 'n get the info, but I've also gotten lost googlin' so I'm just gonna start this thread to ask:

Can someone address add ons?
I understand them as points for additional resorts which are added to a major or main/home resort contract which enables one to book at the 11 month window for that add on resort, but who sells add ons and any other info ya can offer would certainly be appreciated because I really hate to bother y'all with these questions which have probably been answered a 100 times. :)

A true add-on would be direct from Disney. When you do add-on from Disney, they only sell you points with the same UY month that your master contract has. They also do not charge closing costs. You can add-on points for any dvc resort. If Disney doesn't have points for your UY month, you can wait list for those points.

Remember, though, that if you purchase an add-on at a different resort from your master contract, you still only have the 11 month priority window for the number of points at each resort.

For example, if you have 160 points at AKV and do a 50 point add-on at BLT, at 11 months you can only use the 160 points at AKV and 50 points at BLT. But you could bank/borrow to use 150 points during the 11 month window at BLT every 3 years.

And the add on lets ya book at the 11 month window for that add on resort, right?

Please say yes. :flower3:

Oh Darlin', I love you!!

I don't need many points to stay one or two nights at BLT, I really wanna
chill at Disney at BCV or BWV, but I do have a love for the Contemporary.

The first contract you purchase becomes your Master contract. If you purchase a second contract with the same UY and same owners on the title at either the same resort or a different resort, it becomes an "add on" to your Master. It will have the same base contract number as the Master and the two can be treated as one pool of points when making a reservation. If the add on is at the same resort, all points can be pooled 11 months out. If your add on is at a different resort, the points can be pooled when making a reservation 7 months out. If you purchase your second (or third, or fourth, etc.) contract on the resale market rather than from Disney and it has the same UY as your Master contract and you put the same names on the title, it can be set up as an add on when Disney adds that new contract into their system. Sometimes they do not catch that you are already a member and set it up as a new Master contract (and they won't re-do it if that happens) so if you purchase an additional contract on the resale market it's a good idea to tell your resale broker, your closing agent and Disney how you want the new contract set up in the system.

Kindred spirits. While I have enough points now, and won't be adding on, the Contemporay has always been my favorite non-DVC resort. I'd love to stay in the DVC villas occasionally, if they are available at 7 months. Though I'll always feel "at home" at OKW. The rooms there are soooo spacious.
