Hi ~
We're DVC members since '00. We own 150 points at OKW/March use year. Interested in a small add-on (maybe 50-60 points) at either VWL or BCV. How do add-ons work ? Do they get combined with original loan payments ? Do you have to go through the whole credit application again ? I have direct debit from my checking account for loan payments and maintenance dues every month (2 seperate withdrawls). If I purchased an add-on, would they consolodate these or do you end up with seperate charges and due dates ?
Also, what use-year should I look for....or do I have a choice ?
Thanks for any advice.

Add-ons are quite painless. They do add it to the original loan and you have just one payment. There is some paperwork to fill out, but it is a lot less than your origianl contract. They will call or write you a few days after the paperwork is received to notify you if the loan approval came through. We bought an add-on while visiting WDW and the approval notice arrived before we even got home. Just call your guide and he/she will send you the paperwork. You do need to put 10% down on a credit card right away to get the whole thing started.

Hi! I will do my best to answer your questions, as we have added on many times already.
First, you may not be able to get an add-on at VWL, as I am not sure what use years are sold out (your add-on must be the same as your original use year. There may be exceptions, but it is rare).
Second, yes you do have to fill out an abrieviated version of the credit app, but another credit check is not done as long as you current now, and have a good credit history with DVC.
Third, they will combine your payments so that you have one mtc payment, and one mortgage. Be sure you remind them to do this, as payments are due either on the 15th, or the 1st and it may not be automatic (I just had to call accounting and ask them to change one of my add-ons to the 15th so they could be combined).
Last, as I mentioned above, when buying from DVD they will only sell you your original use year, unless you buy at least 150 pts. Then you may buy a different use year, but you will have two member numbers ect...
Hope this helps, and good luck with your purchase!

Also it depends with the down payment because I just bought yesterday and was given 30 days to pay the deposit. You have to talk to your guide. And the use year is the same.

To Eva, Maistre Gracey and Sneaky3 ~
Thanks so much for your replies about the add-ons. I had no idea you had to have your same use-year so this will be a real bummer as we were leaning towards wanting to add-on points at the VWL. We toured there and just fell in love ---have always had a soft spot for the WL. But to be fair, I have not yet seen the BCV's and maybe we will find we really like it there.
Thanks again.

Mia, check with your guide to see if your use year at VWL is sold out. Also, there may be a clever way around that through resale. Perhaps you could buy 150 pts on resale, and have another member number. That is probably more points than you want though.
VWL are very nice, and I wouldn't give up just yet if that is what you want.
Good Luck!

Thanks again Maistre Gracey. I must say, the 150 points isn't more than I want-----but rather more than I can afford right now....lol I'm just not sure I could come up with the cash before the end of the year for the 150 points. In addition to a July WDW trip, we have a Wonder Cruise this November and have to watch the budget. I'm sure I could raise the cash early next year, but I'm nervous about BCV's selling out and then not being able to find a VWL resale. Who knows, I may take a gamble and go for it. But I'm wondering if there even are any VWL resales yet ? Maybe by next year there would be ? Is 150 points the lowest you can get on resale do u know ? Would you suggest the Timeshare Store for the best availability ? Thanks.
