I just want to make sure I have something straight ....

I currently have 150 points at WL for the August use year. If I want to "add-on" to this, I simply purchase additional points from Disney with the same use year.

But if I wanted points at a different resort, this would be considered a new contract?? And I would be paying another set of dues??? So my dues would jump from $600 to $1,200 simply because I purchased the points a different home resort.

Am I missing something??

I think you are confused. I will try to help. If you add on through Disney, regardless of the resort, you will only be sold the same use year as your VWL points--if there are no August points available, then you can't add on through Disney until your name comes up on the waiting list for August points. The exception is if you buy 150 or more points (i.e., a "new contract") in which case you can typically add on with a different use year than your original contract.

Regardless of how or where you add on, your dues will go up. Dues are charged by the point each year. If you have more points, you pay more dues. Doesn't matter that your add on is at your original home resort or not.

Hope this helps.

I should add--the use year restriction does not apply if you add on via a resale. You can buy any use year as an add on, even if it does not match your original use year.

That TOTALLY cleared things up for me Doctor P, thank you!! I was very confused!!!
