I noticed on the member website that DVC is offering 0% interest for add ons using the Disney Visa card. Has anyone done this and is it truly 0% or do they start charging interest after a specified amount of time? It sounds to good to be true. I'm sorry if this has been answered before but the search feature didn't work when I tried to use it.

I did this-- it was nothing but a pain. The deal is that yes your deposit is no interest for 6 months. However, when you get the bill. Say your balance is $1000 and you deposit is $500. You will get the bill for $1000- It doesn't say $500 is what is due. You need to subtract the "promo from the actual due.

I pay off my credit cards every month so i don't carry a balance. So subtracting was easy for me. but then I booked a Disney Cruise using the Same promotion. Well they didn't do it correctly so they had to give me a credit and recharge the CC. But by doing so the credit ate up my promotional charge so then I had to call and say $500 should be on as a promotional charge and $800 should also be on because of the promo at no interest. It was showing I owed the whole thing. Then they told me that any credit offset the promo first and there was nothing they could do about it. So if you return something and your cc gets credit, it comes off the promo first not your other balance.

To make a long story short- they never did apply the credit correctly in 6 months. I made at least 10 calls to them and got the rudest people who didn't know what they were doing. Even the supervisor. I did finally get 2 people who did help me but I ended up paying it early regardless due to the mistakes.

Now I've had a problem with AT&T cc and they were absolutely wonderful. I use AT&T all the time now.

I agree...their advertising is a little misleading. I had a fixed balance on my Disney Visa, 2.99% and recently charged a deposit of $1,200 to get the 0% interest for 6 months, thinking that I would pay at least $200 a month (before the 6 mo. was up) and be left again with my fixed balance at 2.99.

However, I got to thinking and called the Disney Visa and was told that any payments I made in the first 6 months would go only toward the 2.99 balance -- meaning that I would have to make a payment of $1,200 still at the end of 6 months in order not to be charged interest and not have the $1,200 balance (deposit) then jump to the normal charge of almost 15% interest.

So it would not be to my advantage to try to pay off the $1200 deposit during the first 6 months because I would still have to come up with $1,200 all at once at the end of the 6 months to keep from being charged interest. They told me that I would have 30 days to make the full deposit payment --after that time, my payments would go toward the balance that is charged 2.99 and not toward the higher interest.

I plan to pay my regular payments and pay a lump sum for the deposit at the end of the 6 months. I called my guide and told him that it was very misleading, but I plan on beating their system...glad I checked into it twice...I had to call the Visa company.

OK, I was about to call to go on a waitlist. Let me see if I have this right - according to my guide...

(I have a zero balance on my Disney Visa right now.) My add on would be $3680. $2500 would be zero interest for six months, the other $1180 would be charged interest.

Now... could I put the whole $3680 on my card to get the reward points, then when it is posted pay the $1180 off and then have the remaining $2500 with the zero interest for six months?

Or would I be best to put the $2500 on the Disney Visa and have my guide put the other $1180 on my debit?

If anyone knows please post, I'm gonna call today. Thanks!

OK I added on in Jan 120 points at 83.00 so roughtly 11,000 +)...had no balance on Disney card charge deposit (2500 which they split on card 1176 qualifying promo rate - then 1324 the remaining cost BUT it is only I think 10% of cost, then I charged the 7500 balance . I then paid off the main cost and left the balace(deposit on card which was only 1176 it will still say 1176 with promo balance....I got all the Disney reward points for the whole purchase and just kept the 1176 promo on the card til July when the rate expires. And I don't charge anything else on the card to complicate the matter. I also got another Disney Visa(me 1 husband 1 with 50 Disney reward bonus) so I always have one to charge on.
I hope this makes sense. Don't know if it would be worth is for the smaller add on..368 at 0% for 6 months. Hope this helps Carol :goodvibes

I just got put on the waitlist for 40 VWL points December use year. I told my guide to just put the full amount on the card when the points come thru so I'll guess we'll wait and see what happens! :confused3

MY understanding is it is 10% of the price, :goodvibes that is 0% up to 2500. in my case it cost was 11760, so 1176 was O% for 6 months ...In your case 3680 10% 360 is all that would be 0%....? I also thought that the 2500 would be 0% that is why I made and initial deposit of 2500 but they split that into 1176 and the remainder I paid off then put the rest of the cost on 7500 and paid that off leaving the 1176 for 6 mos at 0%.

It is only for 10% of the cost. Granman603 is correct. Also, make sure that your guide tells them you want the promotion. When I had all my trouble, the supervisor told me to fax her the promotion because she won't fix it without it--- Needless to say Disney Visa is not my favorite Credit Card. Just be careful- Chase has a lot of promotions and different cards and the CSR''s don't really know all of the promotions out there.

Points came thru today. (Waitlisted for exactly 3 weeks.) My Visa is showing a pending charge for the full amount so we'll see when I get my bill. The card had a zero balance so it should be easy to figure out. I'll post back.

I put my entire purchase of 200 points on it until my 401k loan came through to get the Family and Friends promo before it expired and it ended up only being on the card a little over a week and I still rec. all the reward dollars regardless. As for the promo rate promo I know it does get tricky as it is misleading with booking the cruise also and I learned the hard way.

We had similar problems booking the cruise...some of you are much more persistant than I am...I eventually gave up and never did get the full promo. The CSR's at Chase jsut couldn't figure it out and I was not willing to devote any more time to it.

I will agree with statements here that Chase and the Disney Visa are NOT handled very well. We have had tons of problems with Chase (and we have never had any issues with any other credit card companies), but it seems there is ALWAYS a mistake somewhere each month. And we pay our CC in full every month...so it is very easy to see the mistakes, confusions, etc.

We are willing to go through all the hassle b/c those rewards points really do add up, but be prepared to be vigilant when working with these promos and with Chase in general.

I agree! DV cc-They are very rude and do not care for customers calling! I wish that they were more receptive.

Home Depot cc works the same way with promotions. I had to just call for that myself!
