Add-on to make another resort "home"

We already own at AKL and were wondering how many points we would need to add-on at another resort in order to get "home" privileges of booking 11 months out.

You can currently add-on as few as 25 points if paying cash or 50 if financed by Disney. You can not combine points from multiple home resorts for bookings until 7 months.

With the minimum add-on of 25 points at another resort, you could make a reservation 11 months ahead and by banking/borrowing you would have up to 75 points every three years for the reservation.

There are lots of DVC members with multiple Home Resorts.

Only enough to book a room but the minimum add-on is 25 points and I doubt you would ever find a contract smaller than that. But points from different resorts can not be combined until the 7 month window.

So, say you own 160 at AKL, but decide to add on 25 points at BLT. You can book 11 months out at AKL using those 160 points, and can book at BLT at 11 months out using those 25 points.

What you can not do is use the AKL points at BLT at 11 months or vice versa. Hope this helps!

Let's say you add on at BWV, you can use your AKV points to book at AKV 8 - 11 months out, or your BWV points to book at BWV 8 - 11 months out. You can't use your BWV points at AKV or your AKV at BWV until the 7 month mark.

You can also take advantage of banking and borrowing, which will give you more points to use for a reservation at your home resort.

You can use the add-on points immediately, but can't combine them with your AKV points until 7 months.

If you add on at another resort, then you will have, in your case, 2 home resorts. You can use your AKV home resort points to make a reservation at AKV 11 months out. You can use your other home resort points to make a reservation at your other home resort 11 months out. What you cannot do is combine the two different home resort's points to make a reservation at a home resort 11 months out. That is, you could not use some of your AKV home resort points to book at your other home resort 11 months out. But you can combine your points at the 7 month mark to make a reservation at any DVC resort.
