OK - we're currently in the process of purchasing 160 pts SSR resale. We know we want at least 160 more but are considering a different home for the add on. Here's where we get confused. I know that I can only book at SSR 11 mos out with the 160 BUT say we need more than the 160? Would the automatically borrow from the following years points - OR could we book the whole thing and then at the 7 mos. mark switch to using the current points for the other resort? Does that even make sense?

Basically, would we have to bank one resorts points and have to borrow the points where we're staying instead of being able to use the current points on the other contract?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Thanks for any help!!

I'm new to all this also, but I believe you can only book at the 11 month window if you have either the total points needed foryour home resort or have borrowed against the next year's points for your home resort to make up the difference. I don't think you can even make the reservation otherwise.

Only points from SSR can be used at SSR during the 11/7 priority window, so that would mean borrowing if you needed more than 160.

At 7 months, you can switch to points from the other resort IF there is still availability for a new reservation. It basically is cancelling and rebooking with the other resort points.

You can not bank the previously borrowed points, banking and borrowing are final transactions.

SO - basically the points are borrowed when you make the reservation and they see they are needed - correct? I thought maybe they waited until the actual trip to borrow them. So we'd be better off doing an every other year type thing - say 320 pts (borrowing) at SSR and then 320 (having banked from the prior year) at the other resort if I understand correctly.

I guess it doesn't really matter either way - just a little bit more of a hassle to mess with the banking and borrowing all the time.

Yes, points are borrowed at the time of reservation.
