We have two BWV contracts, both Oct UY. I've been looking for a 100 to 150 point resale contract but not finding anything. My wife said to just get another UY, which got me thinking: what are the pros and cons of having same resort contracts but with different use years? Does it matter much? Is there something we need to consider.

We have 3 AKL contracts in our Dec UY, and one AKL contract that is an Aug UY. The Aug UY is 50 points and the Dec UY contracts total a little over 400 points. We just use our one transfer per year and roll the 50 points into the Dec UY contract. We are currently only going to WDW once a year, so that works well for us.

We could easily use the Aug UY to book 2-3 nights and the Dec UY to book the rest of a trip and then link the reservations, but the transfer is easier for me to deal with. That way I can use all of the points together to make a reservation. Two to three nights almost never adds up to exactly 50 points. One drawback to the transferred points is that they do not currently show up on the member website, so I have to call MS to use those transferred points.

Both our Dec UY contracts and the Aug UY contract appear on our dvcmember.com login, since they were titled the same. We get two separate dues statements and have two different DVC member cards, since there are two membership numbers.

We own two UY's but different resorts. I think if your other one had enough points, it's not so bad. We bought 150 at BWV and just treat it as its own and don't worry about combining with BLT. We bought for different purposes so its worked out. Since you are looking for a good number of points , you shouldn't have a lot of problems. The biggest drawback is that you will not be able to combine points for a single night without a transfer between the two memberships. Of course, you can always just book whole nights on each and have them linked.
