Sorry if this is a stupid questions, but can we add on points at a resort that is sold out if we don't already own there? i.e. could we add on points at the Wilderness Lodge direct through Disney if we don't already own there or would we have to pick up a resale contract? TIA!

yes, you can add-on at any resort.

edited to add: assuming DVC has pts available in your UY month. there could theoretically be a waiting list...

(but if they are different resorts, you cannot combine pts from both resorts until the 7 month window.)

keep in mind that you can also "add-on" by buying a resale with the same UY month that is titled the same way. DVC will add the contract under your current membership number (but each contract can still be sold or willed separately.) resale is probably cheaper but will take longer.

(dvcnews is a great resource if you want to know what direct pricing for VWL is for current members.)

and even if you buy direct, VWL will still expire in 2042.

Thanks for your reply! I understand all the info about buying a contract from VWL. It's currently just DF and I, but we are planning on starting a family in a couple of years and want to start buying points closer to the Magic Kingdom for our future family. We were in Disney this weekend and toured BLT, but it didn't feel homey to us VWL is a much better fit for us! We also looked at direct vs. resale and the price difference was about $17 for the contract we looked at. Guess we need to make some phone calls now!
