So we haven't even taken our first trip and I am already getting addonitis. Can you purchase add-ons from the older resorts (say Hilton Head or Vero Beach) from Disney or just through resales? If you can purchase them through Disney, how are they priced compared to resales?

You can get add-ons at sold out resorts through Disney. It obtains points through exercise of right of first refusal on resales or through foreclosures. Sometimes it has points readily available, at others you may have to waitlist. Not sure of current price except believe some are in the $101 range.

More expensive through Disney, but also faster and more convenient.

HH and VB are $92 per point less $5 if you add on at least 50 points. You get current year points and there are no closing costs. Points appear in your account and are available to use the same day. Disney will also allow you to bank current year points even if beyond the banking deadline. It is to your advantage to add on just prior to the start of your use year as you get the points and have to only pay a small amount of maintenance fees.
