We've wanted to add on for awhile, but have been conflicted over which is the best way to go. After our 12 day trip last August to the Yacht Club and then Vero I thought I had it figured out...but I let too much time go by and now I'm stumped again.

Our guide called this week because our name came up for points at BWV. We need enough add-on points to get a 2BR at BW, but right now our girls (14, 12 and 3) love the pools and atmosphere at BCV. So we're wondering if it makes sense to add enough to have 200 at BWV and then buy 200 at BCV. In the short term it's probably more points than we need, and we would be constantly borrowing ahead at one resort and banking the others.

We don't use our points every year, but when we go to DW we stay for 7-10 days. We would like enough points to someday get a grand villa and invite family or use the points for a cruise. And our life is so chaotic (sports, different schools, etc.) that we can't use the 11 month window. Our trips are usually planned 6-7 months out IF I'm lucky.

Any advice?

LOL, I'm wondering the same things, I was thinking of adding on points, I own a small 75 point contract at BW, and 130 points at BCV. I don't really need more points, but am still thinking about it. But, like you, I don't which resort I want the points at more.

Anyhow......If you want the 11 month window for both resorts, then I say buy at both. But, there is something you could do. Just buy enough points for the cheap nights (Sunday to Thursday), then use your non-home resorts points to book the Friday and Saturday nights. They tend to be more available at 7 months out.

Good luck with how every you decided to buy your points!

We have 3 contracts, and we always borrow ahead on one contract, bank one contract, and keep the thrid contract current. Right now, one contract is holding Christmas ressies (the borrowed one), one contract is taking care of spring break and summer ressies, with a little help from the third contract, and the rest gets banked. Next year we would like to go at Easter, so we are going to need the extra points. Some years we have more points than we need, so we bank them, and one year we even rented them out. That's the beauty of DVC though, you can change your plans, depending upon the year.

We just added on more points at BWV (Just, as in THIS morning!! :) )

Our deciding factors:

-ease of dealing with points. All our points are same use year and resort;

-ability to take advantage of 11 month window with all points (although we, too, will not often take advantage of this option);

-comfort that BWV has clearly shown a track record of being a popular place, which should mean strong resale market, if (unlikely) we were ever forced to sell for financial reasons.

I think mostly I'm just lazy. We now have 2 contracts (222 and 100). with a 100 point add on, it didn't seem valuable to split resorts. If we were to do 200 points or more, I may have considered getting the points elswhere (likely OKW, as the maintenance fees are so low!).

If you can afford it then go for it!!!!

DVC is something I have never regretted. I like the idea of owning both, in fact I do own at BWV and BCV for the best of both, and the best locations in WDW (imho)

A perfect world would be oky designed villas at the epcot location.

I have 2 teens and a youngster as well, you just cannot beat the epcot area, my teens are gripeing because they want to return to bcv and sab this aug , but we are staying at bwv, I bought the bwv points with the teens in mind, because there is so much activity available there. I think they are going to love it just as much, I have never yet stayed at bwv, but I love all the choices of activity so close at hand. And the ability to use standard points is a wonderful option , especially for larger famalies who need all the points they can get!!

whatever you decide good luck. (I just got my fed ex cotract for bwv an hour ago)

I just needed to remember why I started this line of thinking back in August upon our return from WDW. I had spent too much time in the real world away from "DVC, points, etc".

We have stayed at BWV with our daughters when my youngest was an infant and we loved it. At that time, however, pool hopping wasn't an issue - now with BCV it is. So that's where the dual ownership idea comes from. I love the Epcot area for both the kids and ourselves. I love being able to walk (or take a boat ride) back to either Epcot or MGM for dinner after an afternoon in the pools at either location. But we did find this past summer that by staying at the Yacht Club (we had points in holding from a post 9/11 cancelled trip) and using the SAB pools that we didn't feel the need once to go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. We didn't feel as stressed.

Then we spent 5 days at Vero Beach...didn't enjoy it as much as SAB and wish we had stayed at WDW!

So I think we're making the right decision. It feels a little extravagant, but we love WDW and really don't plan vacations anywhere else except to the East Coast beaches or to visit family out west (Tuscon this year).

Thanks for your input!:D
