Add-on Bug

Does anyone have any info on when the 130 add-on special is going away? I want to do this but would like to way a few more weeks to a month or 2. any info would be greatly app.

I would love to know the same thing. We have been bitten really hard by the add-on bug also! We have 160 points at BCV and really need more more. We are trying to decide BCV , SSR, or whatever. We are scheduled for 4 nights at OKW in early October. We plan to call our guide to tell him we want to tour SSR before deciding. Maybe he will tell us how long the special deal there is going on. I think it may be all up in the air, what with the hurricanes and all. I will post after talking to him if I get any "news." Lacee

We are also itching to add on and would like to know the same thing. I spoke with my guide this week about adding on. Our points are at BCV and we really wanted to add on more BCV points. He told me that there are none and there is no waiting list for them either. He said that what they have now are SSR points and of course the incentives right now are attractive. I just don't know about having points at two different resorts. We really love staying at BCV and don't like the location of SSR very much. Our guide said it's easy to manage points at two different resorts and we still could use the SSR points to stay at BCV. It just sounds complicated to me. Any advice?

I don't think that it's so complicated, it's just that you can only use your SSR points at BCV within the 7 month booking period. As you know, BCV is VERY popular so that may not always be easy (though your guide may want you to think it is). The good thing an add-on does is it allows you to use more of your banked/borrowed points without missing an entire year (or two!) of vacation. You'd just have to book something with your other resort points for the years you're consolidating your BCV points. I think two contracts allows for more flexibility, and there are some good software programs created by DIS members to help you manage your points.

We own at 3 different resorts but it's because we like to stay at each of them. We didn't buy them to use at another resort.

I'd suggest you call your Guide back and tell him goodbye. He has either lied to you about buying BCV through Disney or is totally clueless. (Just look on these Boards for stories of those who have purchased BCV). Either is good reason to lose him. Then speak to a manager and ask for a new Guide and explain why. There are quite a few people on this Board who will give you the name of a Guide who has recently worked with them on getting a BCV purchase from Disney.

Good luck. Stick to your guns. If you want BCV, then buy BCV.

Passed papers the end of July on 150pt BCV through Disney. My guide is Byron! If you want to stay at BCV then buy at BCV, but you may have to wait for points. I had no wait for my BCV add on in April(45 pts) but had to wait 2 months for the 150 points. I just called him letting him know that I had a great first visit home to VWL and that I may need to add more points on there. If you buy 150 points like I did, then you can buy a new contract and not be held to your present use year. I now have Feb. and Dec. use years.

Thank you everyone - I feel as if I've found new friends on this board. DH and I still are pondering whether to go ahead and add on now with SSR points and get the 2 free AP's or hold out for BCV. Either way, more points and more magical vacations are in the near future!

Wendy, we are in the same boat as you! Own at BCV but need more points. We are going to OKW in a few weeks and want to check out SSR. We haven't called our guide yet, will post if we hear something different. Someone else posted that they heard LOTS of BCV points are available. At the very least you should be allowed to waitlist. We may go for the AP benefit also. We are not against staying at other places, SSR may be fine for us, but we need to choose wisely as we generally travel during busy times, not wanting kids to miss school (they will miss 1 day in October.)
