Add-On Banking Policy...

Is this a new policy? Our guide and the member services cast member had to check... add-ons do not apply to the normal banking deadlines. 100% can be banked anytime during your use year. Our guide originally stated we could only bank 50%. So... I placed a call to the DVC member hot line... as stated earlier... even they had to double-check. I guess this is a new policy??? If it is, its a very good one.

I haven't heard about this policy. If it is true, I bet it only applies to the year you purchased the add on and not every year.

FWIW, I think MS and the guides have regularly been making "exceptions" to the banking rules for add on purchases when the purchase was made after the banking deadlines. Maybe they just made it policy instead of having to go through an exception process every time.

When we added on in April 2003 (June use year) when our name came up on the list, they absolutely refused to make any banking exception for us. Glad to hear that this might be changing.

Same here last September with our 200 point October UY add-on. Unable to bank these points or use them, so they expired.

There is definitely a banking deadline exception for the year of purchase.

We too, got our points in February, 50 BWV, with a March Use Year. We donated a weekend to a volunteer at Give the Kids the World. At least they all didn't just expire, but some did, it would have been nice to bank them. Maybe we wouldn't have donated them, so it did work out.

My guide explained it to me this way:
say you have a 150 point contract, then add-on another 150 points. You now have a total of 300 points. If you haven't banked any on the 1st contract and you bank all of your add-on points, you really just banked 50% of your points, not 100% Could this be what happened?

It's the deadlines. After a certain point, you are normally not allowed to bank at all. The question in this thread is if there is now an exception for new add ons.
