My poor Ma. She woke up with an extremely swollen right foot & ankle. Turns out she has gout. We got her seen at an urgent care clinic this afternoon and the doctor wrote a prescription for her. She laughed at dinner and said when she was a kid, everyone in the neighborhood felt sorry for the old guy with the cane because "he had gout". With a twinkle in her eye, she said that she thought it was an old person's ailment (she's 92!) Glad she has a sense of humor, but she's got so many "ailments" and takes so many pills.....

awwww, :hug:I know where you are coming from...my mom has her own personal pharmacy as well, seems like she ends one Rx and the doctors find a need for another. She suffers from Osteoarthritis, rheumatiod arth., severe curvature of the spine, fractured ribs, migraines, sinus..but she has the best outlook of ANYONE in my family. She turned 81 Wednesday, exhausted after spending the day going back and forth with her walker to visit my dad who is rehab after back surgery. I pray to have 1/2 the strength my mom has, and yours! I hope she recovers quickly form the gout, it can be a bugger!

Owwww... my father had gout and recently my mother was diagnosed with gout. It's so painful! God bless your mom. Gout is no joke.:sad2:

 for your mom. I hope she is feeling better. A good sense of humor is something everyone should have, and your mom certainly sounds like she has one!:thumbsup2

Aww. Your poor mom. My grandpa had it a lot and recently my brother (only 44) got it. I know it's very painful. :(

I remember my poor mom going through one thing after another. She has been gone for almost 2 yrs. She had a load of pills she took each day to keep her going. She took it all in stride up until the last ailment when she just seemed to loose all hope. She was 2 weeks shy of 88 when she passed.

Good sense of humor she has. :hug:s for both of you!

DH (41) gets gout flare ups. The one thing he's found that helps is to drink a glass of warm water with one tsp of baking soda 3-4 times per day. It tastes terrible and he makes some great faces, but it seems to relieve the symptoms.
