We currently have a 2BR reserved for 10/28 - 11/2, but part of our party will not be arriving until 10/29. Does anyone know if I change our first night to a 1BR, could I get the adjoining studio on the second day to make the 2BR? I also want to try to split it so our guest do not have to pay an extra night if we get the DDP.

It possible, but not guaranteed. Your two bedroom would have to be a lock off and not dedicated. If it is dedicated, there is no way to get one bedroom and add the studio. Your reservations should be titled the same way and booked for the exact same category (part of the reason why I don't like booking categories like HH area at OKW - just makes things like this more difficult). When you check in to the one bedroom ask to see if you are blocked into the same one bedroom with the studio connected.

The other piece is there will have to be a 1 bedroom still available for that first night if you cancel out the 2 bedroom for that night. It as not as simple as dropping the studio part.

Thank you all, this brings up my second question :) If I decide to just keep the 2BR, can I just split the reservation so my guests do not need to pay for the DDP for the first night without releasing the reservation back to inventory? I really don't want to risk losing the reservation since I think standard view rooms are hard to come by @ BLT.

You could try the segmented DDP, but I don't think that eliminates the old "all people on the reservation for duration of the stay" rule on DDP. And the segmented reservations seem to be a headache, probably worth the $45 for the extra credits.

What you can do is segment off the first night an not put those guests on. This way, you would have the DDP for whoever is there for just that night.

You could then add the DDP for the 2nd part of the reservation, with them. You should not lose your reservation to segment.

I sent an email to MS to have it done. For August, I had BW view rooms for 2 nights (that I luckily got at 7 months) and a SV BLT room and did not want to risk it. I just asked them to segment things, but only if I was at no risk to lose the reservations.

I heard back 2 days later and everything is all set. I will be adding the plans in July.

Good luck!

Thank you Sandisw, that makes me feel better. I will need to call MS to segment. I was actually thinking of doing that anyway since we are planning on ariving late on 10/28. I know, I know, not the best use of points to get a 2BR the first night, but we like to get everything unpacked so we can start fresh the next day and not have to worry about anything except having fun! :)

Good luck! And, I agree, I don't think I would book a different room for one night just because of late arrival either.
