Add a Junior?

We are planning a trip for Nov 2012 and I got a snail mail pin code mailer that starts with Game On and is supposed to be for 22% off. I have been doing some price comparisons on the Disney site for 3 and 2 people. My sister, nephew, and myself. The mailer is $480 per adult (4 nts/5 days based on double occupancy). One of the things it mentions is "Add a Junior (10-17) for $253 more. I have never seen this on any mailers before. I know a long time ago WDW had a junior ticket but I assumed that after you turn 10 it was adult pricing. Unfortunately, the code is not for our dates but it does say call for other dates/resorts. I was just curious about the "junior" pricing and was wondering if anyone had heard of this before. I know that Disney is really target marketing with the mailers/e-mails but this is really targeting our party with one 17 year old.

Not for sure but since the room price is the same for 1 person up to room occupancy limits, I think that may be for food and ticket prices based on a 4 night stay. I didn't price it out, but that's my best guess. And yes you are correct that from 10 to 17 would be Disney adult price anyway. The junior pricing, to me, is misleading.

I went ahead and priced out the DP/Ticket price for 1 adult for 4 days and it is $398. So $253 for a Junior is a great price. Even the $480 for each adult is a great price based on 2 adults. If you deduct the food and ticket costs it would be $164 for a 4 nights stay at a Value.I am going to call to see what kind of pricing they can give me for the dates and no of days we want.

The junior pricing, to me, is misleading.

Yes - I agree and think that Disney should be careful in their wording - it makes it look like there is a new category of pricing for Juniors. It would have been better to word it as 3rd or 4th guest pricing. Maybe everyone on the DIS board should call and inquire about Junior pricing - LOL - on second thought I think the CMs have been through enough in the past week!

WDW has referred to guests ages 10 - 17 as juniors for years, just not very much in it's advertising. It's often used internally and with TAs with regard to pricing.

At ages 18 and up, an extra adult per night room charge is triggered if the room occupancy is more than two adults. For tickets, dining, and all else ages 10 - 17 are Disney adults with regard to pricing. The "junior" refers to not impacting the room cost.

Yes, it's misleading and can lead people to think it's a special pricing category, when in reality it means "no extra adult room surcharge." FWIW the extra adult charge is common in the hotel industry, room rates are often quoted as "double occupancy", and the adult age cut off in some places is as low as 12 years old before an extra room charge is levied.
