Add 1 to solo ADR

There is a slight chance that my daughter will be able to join me on a trip in October. Since it has been a solo trip, all of my ADRs are for 1.

Do you think Disney would frown upon me keeping the ADRs at 1 and showing up with 2 after a late change to plans? I would think that it wouldn't be a problem since the table will most likely be for 2 anyway. Just curious as to everyone's experience.

Thanks!

In most cases, I do think a party of one would be seated at a table for two, but there is always the chance that the restaurant is booked up to their fire code capacity, in which case they cannot add an individual. There is also a small chance that they would just not be able to accommodate an extra person for an unexpected reason. I would either try searching online for a replacement ADR for a party of two OR try calling Disney Dining to see if they add one to your reservations. I would rather know that things will be okay, rather than have to hope it'll work out at each location.

I've done this and its never been a problem. As a last resort, i'd just show up. Im sure they'll accomodate you. But i'd give disney dining a call and get them to add an extra person. You shouldnt have issues adding an extra for most of your ADRs. of course anything can happen, but i really think it'll work out fine. ;)

Thanks all. I plan on searching for ADRs for 2 if she can go, but it's up in the air...so I don't want to change them now. I was hoping that worst case scenario I just show up with two. Thanks again!

YoU can always make reservations for two and if only one shows up that fine
Yup this! But also showing up at the restaurant from 1 to 2 people is a lot easier than say 3, 4 or 5. You are most likely going to seated at a 2 top anyway. Not sure what places you have booked already, but I don't think you'll have a problem.

You will probably be OK if you just show up with an extra person, but if it was me, I'd change the ADRs now just for peace of mind. There's no penalty if you show up without the other guest. But how disappointing if you arrive and your DD can't be accommodated. It will probably be a lot easier to change those ADRs now than at the last minute.

Yeah, the only place I would think there might be an issue is if you had Beaches & Cream and the "1" space was at the counter (it was when I made a reservation for just myself). MAYBE at Biergarten if say there was a group of 7 and had you slated for the extra spot at their table.

But as others have said, make it for 2 and you can always just show up as 1 and not be charged (obviously unless it's one like CRT that requires a deposit).

I called Disney dining yesterday to add another person to a party of two, and she couldn't do it. She said to keep trying because something might open up closer to the date. If it doesn't, I'll cancel.

That is likely because they are out of 4-tops. Changing from 2 to 3 would in most cases necessitate a table-size change. In most cases (with the exception of B&C where a solo might be slated for the counter, and possibly Biergarten where it's communal seating), a solo diner would be seated at a 2-top. But there is no way to seat 3 people at anything smaller than a 4-top based on the table arrangements and sizes - there simply wouldn't be room at a 2-top for 3 people.
