Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

YAY!!! Happy 6 months until you can book!!

I understand what your DF is saying about the FF and it being weird about being "abandoned", I was worried about that too. But from pictures I have seen, it looks pretty cozy anyway, plus it could be kinda fun!!! (And the buffet area would probably take up a lot of the restaurant). Swan and Dolphin venues could be fun too though, although I think their minimums are a bit higher. As for the dp vs cruise, I think that the cruise is quite a bit cheaper (from the research I have done!). But you should do what makes you happy :goodvibes

Yea i have a feeling that the mins for any of the swan/dolphing places might be alittle higher but we'll see what they say when they email me back. I kind of like the idea of being in FF before it opens, i thought it might be kind of fun too! I think i'll email my WP and see if she can send me some pictures of how it is set up.
As far as the DP over the cruise, i think we're going to have too many people. i have a feeling that if people start coming around and decide to go there will be 16 of us. We'd be able to do the grand 1 but idk which would be better since i like Illuminations better than wishes (please dont kill me for saying that) :rotfl2:

Happy Six Months until you can book!!

Have you thought about Shula's?? I know your df wants steak :lovestruc

shulas-photo1.jpg

I thought I had info on it. Il Mulino might be a choice for you too!

Thanks mandy! :goodvibes

I asked about shulas and il mulino in my email too. I showed DF the pictures of shulas and he really liked it so its definatly a possibility. :thumbsup2

Third I emailed the private events coordinator for the swan/dolphin. After looking at Katie's (prinessshea) reviews of the place and since she's an OCD bride after my own heart (i say that with love) i think having private dinner at bluezoo might be a good idea. DF still isn't keen on the whole FF rental idea because he thinks it'll be wierd to be in an "abondoned restaurant". I asked him why he keeps saying "abandoned" when clearly it just doesn't open until dinner time and he just replies with "i think it'd be weird". Whatever, i'm still trying to find research on FF and see if i can find another bride who's already done it. We'll see what kind of information i get from the events coordinator at the swan/dolphin though.

Hehehe, thanks. OCD brides unite :lmao:

I know whatever you decide to go with will be nice. The bluezoo minimum is $1200 (for a room up to 15 people), BUT if you have 16 people, you need a bigger room which raises the minimum. Unfortunately, I don't know what that number is.

I don't remember what the Shula's minimums are. It's somewhere in my PJ. But I know they were lower than bluezoo.

Can't wait to hear what you end up doing :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info Katie! I'm going to go look in your PJ and see if i can find the Shula Minimums.

Anytime!! People at work make fun of me because I can find just about anything on Google!

my co-worker is the same way! she is a big help in finding things for me! lol

Happy saturday ladies!

a few things...

first i lost the auction for that hair comb :sad2: but i'm not getting upset, if it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be.

second DF and I started going through our stuff and put a ton of stuff on ebay. All the money we get is going into the wedding fund. :thumbsup2 I'm sad to see some stuff go like my clarinet but ever since i graduated high school i haven't touched it and i have no where to play it so instead of letting it collect dust i hope it'll help another student that wants to be in a school band.

and fourth Instead of doing a DP i was looking into maybe doing an illuminations cruise. The pontoon boat only holds 10 people so we won't be able to know if we can do it or not until we know for sure who is coming and who isn't. The other option is the grand yachet 1 for a wishes cruise but thats just as much as a DP so i dont know about that yet.

cruises is one thing i know alot about, i drive the boats! at least for wishes. :thumbsup2 i have done wedding groups that had to use more than two boats. when they "park" for wishes they tie the boats together so that way the families can be next to eachother. so in a way its like having one boat. also book the cheapest boat you can (no music) the drivers find a way to get the music. so let them know it is for a wedding, they will dress up the boat free of charge.

hope that helps a bit.

OMG thank you thank you thank you! :worship:

I can't wait to tell DF that! I was thinking of maybe doing this as a surprise to all the guests. :goodvibes Do you know if they can park two boats next to each other for the illuminations fireworks? I didn't know they dress up the boats!! that is sooo cool!! Oh you just got me all kinds of excited! You're awesome!

oh and i'm guessing the answer to this is a no but can you wear your wedding attire on the boat?

illuminations cruises book up fasssst. so i would call now! plus you can ask for food and drinks to be on the boat bsides the usual soda and chips (those come with it) there are only 5 boats each night. they park under the bridge in France and you can be right next to each other. :)
and YES you can wear your wedding attire on the boat! :yay::yay::yay:

and when i mean by dress up the boat.... i mean balloons and a banner. if they are a really good Captain they will do a few other little things. just depends on the season and reason. (they hope for a good tip. lol) :rotfl: (yes i was one of those! ;):rotfl::rotfl:

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! :banana::cheer2::cool1:

I didn't think i'd be able to!! I'm so excited! Oh i just jumped up and down reading your post! I can't wait to tell DF and see if we can make this happen! How soon can i call and book it?

:cheer2: that will be so much fun! and you can be in your dress which will make it more magical :wizard: (im all about this wizard today)

I wanted to do it as well!! But I would have needed two boats, and my mom was mad because she thought that was being mean to separate people (I didn't, but since my parents are are biggest $$ contributors, I just listened). Plus, if they park right beside each other, it doesn't really matter anyway.

I researched it a lot when I was planning on doing it, and everything I read said 90 days out, and make sure to call at 6:55 am, and keep hitting redial!

I hope its something we'll be able to do... I'm still trying to talk DF into it but we're going to have to see whats in the budget. It would definatly be magical though!:wizard: (wizard all you want sweetie! :rotfl2:)

Yea DF is alittle leary about the whole two boats thing too. I dont care... we can stick FDMIL on whatever boat i'm NOT on! :rolleyes1 Anyway do you know how much it would be for two boats? I'm not findind alot of answers but the search button on the DIS never seems to work for me!

Inviations and Recpetion Dinner updates!!!

So i actually have some good wedding updates to report! :cool1:

First i had emailed The private dinning events coordinator for the Swan and Dolphin yesterday. He already got back to me! Totally took me by surprise, that quick little email bugger! I told him the date and time that we were hoping for and that i researched other escape brides and how they all had good things to say about their experience. He told me that Shulas and bluezoo were only open for dinner but that he had the perfect place for us. It's call the Fresh Mediterranean. He told me that they are open for lunch and that they have a private veranda that they use for private meals.

This is the website for the place
http://www.swandolphinrestaurants.com/fresh/index.html

It looks nice enough and he told me that he was gathering more information and the he'd email me once he has all the info! Well that wasn't good enough for me you know i stalked that website and got all the information i could! :surfweb: From what i read (now don't quote me) it looks like there really isn't a F&B minimum for a private lunch there. Its more of a "discuss with the events coordinator" thing and they kind of cater to you. If thats the case maybe it wouldn't only be cheaper and more cost effective but if we can customize what we get everyone should be happy with the food choices! I'm really really excited about this place and i think it could be an awesome choice for us. If any of you have any info or pictures of it let me know i'd love to know more!! :cloud9:

And my second update

I got my wedding invitation samples!

Its between number 2 and 3 but DF and I are both lking number 2 better! Its the one with the leaves! :thumbsup2 We aren't 100% sure its exactly what we want... its a good invitation for a fall wedding here in new england but it didn't seem right for a wedding in disney but we'll see, maybe we'll use those for our home party if we have one. I'll take some pictures of them later and post them for your viewing pleasure! :3dglasses

I think it would be about $650 for 2, which from my research was much cheaper than a DP (for 19 people). Here is the info I have saved on it:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/fireworks.htm
http://allears.net/btp/illum.htm

The reviews I found on the disboard all seemed to say that illuminations was their favourite!

Thanks hun! :thumbsup2

DF still thinks we should just head to EPCOT after the wedding and reception mean in nice clothes and watch the fireworks with everyone with mickey ice creams :mickeybar yes that is the more cost efficent way but not the fun way!!!

its so hard because we feel like people who spend a rediculouse amount on their wedding is crazy but sometimes i see how that can happen! :rolleyes1
The other thing is that DF is still kind of bitter towards his family and doesn't want to do anything extra for them... he'd rather take that money and put it towards something fun for just the two of us on the honeymoon. :woohoo:

That's so exciting, hon! That restaurant looks pretty swanky and the menu seems tasty too! :thumbsup2 I'd be so happy for you guys if it all works out!

Looking forward to seeing the invites! Hopefully yours are prettier than the samples Jason and I got in the mail. :lmao: Invitations are just bumming me out right now, personally! I feel like I'm being silly for wanting prettier invites, but at the same time, feel as though it's a waste of money. :sad2: I agree with you, it is easy to see how you could spend lots and lots of moola on a wedding! Even if it doesn't seem completely logical. Lol.

Thanks Anj!

Alright so here are the invitation samples we got
019.jpg

This is the boring one DF liked. Its pretty but i didn't know the envelope would be red... i dont like

020.jpg

this is the reply card that goes with it.

015.jpg

this is the one we like but not sure if it goes with the disney wedding

018.jpg

we'd be getting it in Navy

012.jpg

this one we liked more when we saw it online... in person we were kind of like "eh"

013-1.jpg

what do you think?

Out of the ones you posted, I actually like the falling leaves one the best. I mean, I think it's fun to play up that our weddings are at Disney, but it's not totally necessary. :confused3 If you two like it, I think that's what matters most! Besides, for the time of year of your wedding, I think it's appropriate in that respect. ::yes::

Ok first of all YAY for a possible lunch/reception site!! That place looks really nice!!!

And I still like the falling leaves invitation too!!

okay so for starters i think the potential for that lunch location sounds good ! i also got the same feeling on no F&B mins. but who knows? i think sometimes i totally just read what i want to read lol.

...also in regards to the illuminations (or wishes) cruise..the thing about it is..even though its with the entire family you may want to remind adam that this is something nice for you and him as well, its a great experience that you may otherwise not get to do, and you will be able to be in your gown (which come on is awesome) it will be more personal, as opposed to being in the parks..

...and lastly...i like the last invite...the all blue invites
lol

oh...wait...:wizard:
hahhahaha :rotfl2:
