Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

Awe thanks Sam!:goodvibes I think so too! And when you see the front of the dress its really not sexXxay or over the top in anyway. I think the back going down in the V like that gives the dress some drama!;)

Casa_A008_00007_v3_gj.jpg

This is the front of the dress by the way. The model must be really tall because the fold in the front is higher on her than me but just so you girls can get the general idea.

1st of all you dress is amazing, very CLASSY! In no way is it trashy! The front is so pretty:goodvibes. Oh and I bet the back will be different because your veil will cover it for the ceremony and then lose the veil and party:woohoo:

THRASHY???? Good thing they're not coming to my wedding then- they'd have a cow with all my non-traditional stuff... and my dress is low cut in the front WITH a deep V in the back:rotfl2: Have no fear your dress is very classy and elegant! The V is one of my favorite parts of your dress... it is so flattering on you! I still can't wait to see a pic of the front!

GREAT colors

Thanks! I can't wait to start putting things together!:goodvibes

Thanks Sam! I'm not sure what kind of a veil to do... do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of buying a plain veil and getting some crystals to scatter through myself, adding a few hidden mickeys of course. But i'm not sure what to do for the length? I dont want to take away from the dress. you don't think the dress is too much for an escape wedding do you?

:rotfl: My mother is getting rediculouse. All of a sudden since i'm not getting married in a church my wedding is null and void, and my dress is too "much" for a wedding, and having a small reception at our home when we get back is stupid, and ect ect ect. IDK what goes on in her mind but shes always been this way so w/e. If she doesn't like it then she doesn't have to go. Simple as that. :cool2:
Thank you for saying its flattering on me, the only pictures we have so far are the ones from that day in work so i haven't been able to REALLy see it on myself.:upsidedow

Alright ladies... i need some ideas!

I was searching around the boards for some inspirational wedding ideas so that when we have our sister sleep over this weekend i can bring some options to my sisters and see what they think. DF and I had thought of doing a DP the night of our wedding, which is awesome because i'd LOVE to wear my dress in the park and get those fireworks pictures!:cloud9: He is also totally on board with this idea and really wants to do it. But depending on how many people actually go it may not be worth it for us... i mean we can just go and get some mickey ice creams and watch the fireworks for alot cheaper.

I tried thinking of things that would be good alternatives and this is one of my bright ideas  that i want your opinions on.....

I'm really sad that we won't be having a "normal" recpetion because I want to dance with my DF in my wedding gown. Obviously with the escape wedding we can't really do anything like that and with our home reception being in our home that wont really work either. :sad2: soooooo.... What about ADH? We're getting married at SBP and we wanted to do a dinner in the area (either YSH or FF) and where ADH is right there why not do dinner and dancing?? I've read some posts about it and they say that its hardly ever busy in there because most people don't know what it is. So could we just show up (wedding attire and all) and go dancing? :confused3 I've checked out alot of wishes brides who've had their reception there and its so amazing inside, i just love it! Is this possible? Has anyone done this? What do you think of the idea? I just want to dance and partay!party:

I was also thinking about just changing the ceremony time to either the 10:30 or 12:00 time so that after the wedding we could just spend the day in the parks with our guests. IDK... there are just so MANY options!!!! :faint: Any other ideas or thoughts are much appreciated!:worship:

Ugh.... scratch that idea. J

ust did more research and you have to be 21+ to get into ADH. My youngest sister will only be 19... DARN!!!!

Alright so back to the drawing board... any other ideas?

Can't you do your first dance at SBP? I think it was Lynnie who did that. The pictures were gorgeous too! Or you could always dance at your dessert party, although I don't know how easy it would be to dance to illuminations music! :rotfl: I'm sure you'll come up with something great!

Yes you can do the first dance at SBP i just love dancing and i'm going to miss that about having a normal reception. I don't think i'd know how to dance to the illumiations music... its not very danceable :rotfl2: i'm definatly going to do a first dance though... its a necessity for me!

Hmmm veils... I like shorter length (partially because I am a klutz and would trip over a long one lol). I think a fingertip veil would look nice with that dress, elbow might take away from the "V" back because it would be around the same length as the "V"... but it may not, I would try a few on with it :) And I love simpler veils (and of course hidden mickeys:thumbsup2).

Your dress is great, and not "too much" for an escape wedding at all! It will look amazing!

Oh and as far as ADH goes, I am not positive but I am not sure you would be allowed in wearing a wedding dress (I think it is the same policy as the parks now) but I would double check... maybe post it on the main board, I bet Carrie would know:goodvibes

thanks sam!:thumbsup2 I think the ADh idea is out anyway.. we'll have a gues thats under 21. :headache: should've done all my research before i got excited. Oh well.

But yea i was thinking finger-tip length. And i'm going to do it myself... i couldn't believe how much they were charging at DB. Insane. My sister works at Jo-anne's and they sell a few veils for lik 10 bucks and the crystals for cheap too. And with her discount i should be able to make it for nothing compared to DB..... and it'll have hidden mickeys!:cloud9:

OMG I know! The elbow and figertip length veils I tried on were all around $180-$200! And they were not anything special, just regualr pretty veils! The ballet teacher in me came out and I was thinking about how much tulle costs when I make tutu's for my dancers and I know it is about $1.50-$2.00 per yard. Those veils had 1 or 2 yards of tulle, so about $3-4 worth of material!!!! What the heck is the rest of the price for then ya know!!

Ughhh sorry I get so annoyed when I see hwo expensive veils are at bridal salons. I at going the DIY route myself for sure (or the ebay route if I get lazy lol).:rotfl2:

OMG that dress is just beautiful!

As far as dancing, I am finding myself in the same situation now that we are considering an Escape wedding.

Do the rules for ADH apply for a private event or were you just considering going there?? How about an outdoor party at Stormalong bay with an ipod???

I'm like you Sam I want the bright colors. I think i found a perfect color scheme that will keep DF and I both happy...

Turquoise

and

Chocolate brown

with a pink (deep pink not baby/pastel pink...yuck) accent color!

Thanks to Mandy I got to see what it will look like and then did some more research and found some really pretty weddings. I figure since its an escape wedding i should have as much fun with color as i can! :thumbsup2 I'm thinking turquoise BM dresses with a chocolate sash around them and pink bouquets! I think i'll pay the money and get pink rose petals to put down the aisle and have guests throw. :goodvibes What do you think??

I also love the mango Idea sam! that would look really pretty:cloud9:

Ok apparently I've been under a rock! I missed that you picked your colors! I really like that idea...I love brown and turquoise!!

I am going to go back and keep reading lol.

So color scheme picked... for now:rotfl2: So on to other things.

When should we send out STD's? I keep going back and forth about whether or not to send them now or 8 months out when we have the exact date booked. :confused3 Sometimes i think now would be good because that gives guests a year and a half to start saving/making arrangements, it also give certain guest ::cough:: FMIL and DM ::cough:: another wake up call that this IS happening! ( had another issue with FMIL i'll explain later ) I figured if we did it now we could put in there alittle letter stating that we understand not everyone can go blah blah blah and just know the date/location may change blah blah blah. This will also give us a number to work with. If we wait the 8 months out we could verbally tell people to start making arrangements but i'm afraid those certain guest are still going to think we aren't seriouse about our disney wedding. It would however save alot of explaining because by 8 months out we'll know for sure of our date/location/time. Any Advice on this ladies?? Anyone willing to share their STD's??

Oh and I kind of had an impulse buy (which never happens with me) and I bought a WII and WII Fit! I've had it for two days and OMG am i sore. I knew i was outta shape but this is just insane! I've done and hour on it each day and i'm going to try and do an hour a day and loose some of this weight... i wanna look the best i can in that wedding dress!:lovestruc And considering how much i spent on everything I better come out looking like giselle!

Alright i probably should get back to work now. :surfweb:

I was wondering this too! I need to come up with something...maybe later today:cool1:

I just wrote on your PJ meghan!!!:lmao:

I saw that STD and I was thinking of doing something exactly like that. My boss thought it was a good idea too. Just to give people a heads up and let them know to start getting stuff prepared.:thumbsup2

Although DF's mother is not being supportive at all. :sad2: I was on facebook the other day when FBIL's girlfriend (that i'm also friendly with) came on and asked me if the wedding was still in florida. I told her yes and asked her why she would think it had changed. She told me FMIL told FBIL that she looked at plane tickets and she simply could NOT afford the plane tickets let alone the hotel so that either the wedding would not be in florida or they weren't going. Well i found this all very interesting and got pretty upset and let me explain why....

1.) this women has never left the north east and has never been on a plane so i'd LOVE to know where she got her flight information.

2.) i know this is none of my buisness but FMIL and FFIL just paid off FSIL car payments when she just decided to stop paying them and FFIL's credit was at stake AND they just gave the other FBIL 7G's towards a new car. DF has NEVER and i mean NEVER asked his parents for money yet they can't even come down for his wedding.

oh and

3.) they own their house outright... yup thats right no mortgage:mad:

alright i'm done venting DF and I decided we're just sending out the STD's and letting them handle it from there. Neither one of us can be bothered with their crap right now.

Alright well i'm off to cook dinner.:upsidedow

Ugh family drama....we are just starting that too. We have to remember these are OUR weddings and everyone else will just get over it.

Hey Mandy!

I did pick my colors... again its still early... who knows if my ideas will change! But if I do decide to change i'll consult with you first!:rotfl2:

I'm glad you like the dress... i'm happy its getting good reviews!:goodvibes

Family drama is family drama though... its was going to happen whether we did a big home wedding or a disney wedding. It seems to be the nature of the wedding game now-a-days. Oh well... :cool2:

As far as ADH I had the crazy thought of just showing up after the wedding in my gown and see if i got kicked out :rolleyes1 But after doing alittle more research i realized the age requirement and my sister won't be able to get in... DF and I are going to sit down together the next few days and make out the STD's I'm going to make it clear that we need some sort of a head count soon so that we can figure out what will be worth our money. I just can't see paying for the DP if we're only going to have 6 guests. :sad2: The decision of what to do after the ceremony is just going to have to wait. But My sister and I will be making the STD's this weekend so i'll make sure to post them when i'm done!

Have you decided what you're going to do yet Mandy? Other than the no dancing I'm all for the escape wedding... but thats just my opinion. Either way go it'll be beautiful!

Just an FYI...I read something somewhere (most likely here...but now I can't remember...) That when you put crystals on your veil, in pics you might have black spots through out the veil where the crystals are...This is b/c what you see in the photo are the flat backs of the crystals. So, depending on how your veil lays you might get these black spots.
I think one way to correct this would be to get bead like crystals and sew them on...that way they are sparkle no matter what angle they are at. :thumbsup2

Good Evening Ladies!

I have a pretty cool story for you today!

This morning was driving to work and noticed a new bridal boutique had opened up in place of an old furniture store that I pass everyday. I need to be in work at 6:30am so there wasn't really anyone on the road so i slowed down to look in the display windows. I was just trying to check for any pretty BM dresses.... when low and behold MY DRESS was in the window!!! I continued into work and told my boss and other co-worker all about it. The both said "we need to call and find out how much they're selling it for!!!"

**remember i bought this gown on ebay (brand new) for only $300 and the tags are STILL on it.**

I said i wasn't 100% sure it was my dress... i mean it was early and i just did a drive by... but they insisted they call. So i gave my friend Laura the name and style number of my gown and she called. This is how the conversation went.....

Laura: Hello, I'm a future blushing bride (shes crazy) and I saw a gown in your store window that looks like a gown i've been eyeing in one of my bridal magazines. Do you think if i give you the maker and style number information you could check and see if its the same dress?

Lady on the other line: Sure!

Laura: Ok well its a blah blah blah insert style number

Lady on the other line: Ok, hold on and let me check for you...... *holding*.... Yup thats the dress!!!

Me: :yay:

Laura: Well could you tell me how much it goes for at your boutique?

Lady on the other line: The gown goes for $1,550.

Laura and I: :scared1:

Lady on the other line: I know it sounds like alot but you need to understand that this is a couture gown and it is made in limited numbers and only top of the line boutique carry their diamond collection gowns.

Laura: Ok, well... *fed the lady some crap lie about making an appointment sometime soon and gets off the phone*

I can't even tell you how amazing it felt to know that even though i bought my wedding gown on Ebay it is definatly NOT a cheap dress! :goodvibes:lovestruc I couldn't believe how much they were selling it for. I called everyone who i thought would care and told them the story! Which is why i felt i needed to come on the DIS and share it with you all!:rotfl2:

Alright well thats all for now! I'm off to go play on the WII fit!:thumbsup2

:banana:That is a great story!!!! I am not surpirsed at all because you can tell just by looking at it that it's no cheapo run of the mill dress... plus I think you remember saying the material was really nice which is something I've really noticed is the difference between gowns in different price ranges. But how great to have a definate confirmation that you got such an awesome deal!!!! Congrats!

:goodvibesThanks Adelia!

I ws so happy about it! I wanted to drive buy again this morning and take a picture of itin the window but i forgot my camera. ooops.
