We are going on our first Disney cruise soon. We are doing a 4 night on the Dream. This may be our only Disney cruise. Since this is only a 4 day cruise, we were thinking we would get the most out of the Disney experience by staying on the ship at Nassau. We have cruised before but not with Disney. My question is, are there still lots of planned activities and character meets on port days? We want to make sure our kids get to do most of the fun things on the ship.

I tried to PM you but unfortunately you don't have enough posts yet to do so. I would recommend looking for old Personal Navigators to find out what activities are offered on port days. I just did this last night for our upcoming cruise as there is one port we may stay on board.

In our case there were a few activities in the AM but not nearly the number that are normally offered. The afternoon offered more and the evening was like normal.

Hope this helps.

We are thinking the lines will be shorter on the Aquaduck and the pools will be less crowded at least.

what is Personal Navigators? we are going on our first Disney Cruise in January.

Sorry - new to this. You mentioned on post above to Mandy that you recommend looking for old personal navigators for more details about on board activities when ship is at ports.

Personal Navigators are the paper itineraries that you will get on the ship each night before the next day. They have a grid with most of the activities and events going on and where and when they will be.

By looking at old ones, on cruises on the same ship and similar ports to yours, you can get an idea of what sorts of things might be offered, though of course, each cruise will be different and some things change over time.

Check out this site: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ for example.

TBH when I was on the Dream I didn't notice that the lines were THAT much shorter in Nassau as a LOT of people don't get off or do so and are back on very quickly. Reading some posts on here it's easy to think you'll be the only family on the ship, but that's not the case. Is it less crowded? Of course. But not EMPTY.

As far as activities, I don't recall them having a lot of things scheduled during port time - probably as a way to encourage taking excursions. There may be something early in the morning or when a sort of critical mass of excursions come back, but in that middle time I don't recall there being a lot.

We are going on our fourth Disney cruise but first 4-night next summer to the Bahamas on the Dream as well; we've only done 8 and 7 nights, so you are right, 4 nights is short for some people! But others think it is a great introduction to Disney cruising. If you go on Disney Cruise Line Blog, you will, as others have mentioned, find the Personal Navigators, which you will receive each morning (and when you board). i would highly recommend finding your exact itinerary and mapping out your day. Here's one with the Nassau day: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Personal-Navigators-Dream-4N-Bahamian-Day-2-Nassau-20160607.pdf We also are not going to get off in Nassau (except maybe to walk around a bit). I think you will still be able to see movies then instead of other times and there are a few crafts and character meets. Maybe your kids will love the kids clubs; mine do. With such a short amount of time, we are going to try to just enjoy the ship. Also try to get the earliest Port Arrival Time that you can, pack a day bag (your luggage may not come to your room for several hours), and try to enjoy the ship as long as you can the first day as well. You can have lunch when you board and swim, do the Aquaduck, etc. That's our plan as well! Have the best time!!

Thanks! We have cruised 7 and 8 days with Carnival. This will be our kids first cruise and we picked Disney mainly to enjoy the ship and Castaway Cay. We will plan to enjoy the ship and relax that day.
