We're on the Dream on Feb 13. We're taking our 15-month-old son. I'm wondering if there will be much for him to do, like little play areas or story time.
Are there lots of activities for toddlers during sea days?
He won't be allowed in the pool, but I know about the splash pad area.

Anxious to hear what others may have to say! We will also be cruising the Dream with our 15 month old son in June! I know we plan on spending a lot of time in Nemo's Reef!
I also read on these boards that you can take your toddler in to the kids clubs to play as long as you stay with them.

On the Magic and Wonder they've held a "Playhouse Disney Dance Party" in the mornings hosted by members of the cruise entertainment staff who lead the littlest cruisers in song and dance to some Disney favorites and classics like YMCA and the Chicken Dance. Parents are encouraged to participate as well! They also played Playhouse Disney cartoons on the screens of the Promenade Lounge (where they party was held on the dance floor) during the party. The regular deck parties are fun as well, though you want to be careful in the crowds. For the pirate party, we usually found a spot on an upper deck, so the kids coulds watch the party (when they were old enough to stay up) without fear of being trampled, and so they could see over everyone to what was on the stage itself.

There are some arts and crafts activities that are family friendly, though I found some of them to be difficult when the kids were 2 or under.

The splash area they have on all of the ships is available for use by the diaper wearing set, and is the only water area on the ship that non-potty trained kids in swim diapers can use. My kids loved the area on the existing ship (once they added it), and Nemo's Reef on the Dream/Fantasy seems pretty cool!

On the first night of the cruise, they've usually held an open house in the Nursery and kids clubs. We've taken the kids into both places and played on the equipment and used the time to meet the cast members working there, for when we used the club or nursery later in the week. They hold open house or family times in the Oceaneer Club that are designed for families to come in and play on the equipment in the Club, and you're welcome to take your little one in during those times to play with him on the stuff.

My 23 month old loved the musical shows, but don't know if your 15 month old will. My son loved the characters at a young age, but my DD didn't want anything to do with them until she was 3. There are a ton of photo opportunities with or without characters.

If your cruise stops at Castaway Cay, there's nothing funner than playing in the sand! They have wagons and beach strollers available for use on a first come, first served basis, that are great for toting kids and stuff around the island. We generally find a shady spot on the beach away from the water, and let the kids dig in the sand. You can buy beach toys on the ship or island, bring them from home, or order some in a gift basket. You may also be able to borrow some from the kids club on the island, since many folks leave their toys behind after their cruise rather than lug them home. Castaway Cay now has Spring A Leak, which is a fresh water splash and fountain area aimed at toddlers on the island that opened in 2010. We've also rented bikes with the baby seat on the back and biked around the flat bike paths for the afternoon.

There are NO activities scheduled for children under 3 years old/not potty trained. There are FAMILY activities that they are welcome to participate in. There is a Playhouse Disney themed dance party on some mornings, family dancing in the evenings, YOU are welcome to take him/her to play in the Oceaneer's Club as long as you stay there.

If you put him/her in Flounder's/Nemo's for babysitting, there are appropriate toys, books, etc. and the CMs will play with the children. As you noted, there is a splash area.

We traveled with our 16 month old in October. There really werent activities for her to do, because of her age.
First of all Nemos Reef was an amusment park for her. I dont know what they were doing with her, but everytime we picked her up she left crying because it was time to say "bye bye" to the staff, she wanted to stay longer.
We went to the Oceaners Club as "guests" so she had her own time to run around climb and play in an open space area.
Over by the pools is splash area for non-potty trained toddlers. SHE LOVED IT
I was overjoyed to see my DD excitement at the Golden Mickey. Ive never seen her sit still so long before!

over all even though DCL doesnt have specific activites for toddlers this young, there is still plenty to do with them.

My kids love the disney playhouse party! And lots of little ones are there. Also, you can go in the kids club and play with them. Lots of fun. And when my son was little he loved Flounders too. Plus, just walking around the ship and you'll see characters, etc.

Excellent. Thanks for the help. At this age, I'm sure DS will be excited if we find a paper cup somewhere ;)

I am on the other end of the spectrum. My son was 18mths when we took him and it was pretty miserable on sea days. The splash area did not hold his attention at all. He hated Flounder's, but he doesn't go to daycare or anything, so that may be why. He screamed when we took him in there.
A shorter cruise would probably not be so bad, but 3 sea days was just too much.
For this reason, we are not taking the kids on our upcoming cruise, but we will rebook onboard for 2012 when our youngest turns 3 and can go to the kids' clubs.
